Hmmmm, reviving this dead thread seems somewhat pointless, since most of you who are interested have already read it. But I took the time to finally read all six harry potter books in a matter of about two months. VERY great series, so I felt like writing about it. This seems to be the most apporpriate thread. Half Blood Prince was by far my favorite. Here's why:
It falls squarely upon the fact that Harry and Ginny FINALLY hooked up! I've been waiting for this to happen since they first introduced Ginny in the second book. She was always nervous around Potter, and I could just tell that, sooner or later, those two will start going out. Ginny also got progressively cooler as she became lead chaser for the Gryffindor Quidditch team, master of hex spells, and just an all around kickass girl. I like the way Rowling brought her character up. Wasn't all to fond of Cho when she came along. Just seemed to be another bump between Harry and Ginny (along with Michael and Dean).
Regarding Snape and Dumbledore, I still have faith in Snape. I find it hard to believe that Dumbledore would actually beg for his life. That's not Dumbledore's style. I still believe Dumbledore had this all planned out from the beginning, and when it comes down to it, he probably knew he was going to die. I still believe Snape is rolling with Hogwarts (in the fourth book, I believe Voldemort refers to Snape as "the one who was lost to him[Voldemort]"). Snape will prevail on the good side in the end. =)
Ron and Hermione shouldn't even be a discussion anymore. We all know they're going to hook up. It's just a matter of when and where in the seventh book they will finally admit their feelings toward each other. It's been obvious since the fourth book. My gosh. I kind of despise Ron for being so mean towards Hermione (I'm mostly a Hermione fan, which is probably my reason for liking Emma Watson so much). Hermione can do NO wrong! =P
I'm kind of wondering if anyone is going to go to school next year. Probably not. I'm hoping that Ginny will just ignore Harry's wish and follow him, Ron and Hermione in their quest to find Horcruxes and kill Voldemort. I have a feeling she'll play an important role seeing as Dumbledore explained that love was Harry's most powerful weapon against Voldemort.

Yeah, I know. It's an old thread. But I felt like saying my opinions on the subject. No, I haven't read much of this thread, so I don't know if I repeated anything that people have already said. If I have, oh well. At least some people agree with me if that is the case. Can't wait for the seventh book.

The sixth book was rather disappointing..... In terms of language and richness of the world she created, JK rowling has done a poor job.

well what you last few guys said about plot over richness of words and harry being a little too mopy, here here.
i liked all of the books, but i noticed those two problems with the last two books.
as for me i read all of this thread and the links and i must say im near passing out from it.
the first one is for dumbledore not being dead and the other is for why he is dead and who r.a.b. is.
for you who decide to read those they both have good points and bad ones.

yeah i thought it may be neville too. and it does become very obvious after a few chapters.
oh and for the ginny thing and hermione, hermione knew all along and gave ginny the advice she needed to get there. im kinda glad id forggotten all about that possibility.
as for harry being a seventh hoarcrux no way. he wants to kill harry too much for that where he doesnt want to kill his snake.
as for the other thought on drinking the hoarcrux, again no way the water zombies would have killed dubledore and then the hoarcrux begone. if it hadnt been for harry.
for the whos R.A.B. i totally agree with it beeing regulus which is what i thought when reading the book.

if nobody payed attention to the book all that much after hearing spoilers before hand(hate my friend!) ill point out that snapes unbreakable vow was very sneekily worded
also dumbledores comment on hiding malfoy better than death, was quite the sneeky example to show dumbledores not dead. as for trusting snape dumbledore says just how smart he is but also how big his mistakes are.
everyone forgotten about that room in the ministry where black is at.....
as for the flying kedavra its likely just for show is the original thought but actually isnt a kedavra and the legilimens is to ask snape for him to do so, and when he turns to harry giving him advice neither helpful or not, because it could have just been him saying his dislikes for harrys incompetence. when he says not to call him a coward he may be thinking of his past grudge with harrys father and his following through even as they spoke with his debt. not to mention that he wasnt sure if he saved dumbledore or not.
well this is all garbled due to having read to much before posting.
i think book seven will start out with the wedding
as to the whereabouts of the locket im confused because it had a curse on the real one and not on the fake one, so either rab is still alive or the locket with the curse is his own replacement.
