Why is Gundam Seed such a popular hit?

okay this is sad that just made me look like i'm in love with a gundam... not to mention its a gundam from gsd ...

honestly though.. gsd was pretty much talk battle talk junius 7 battle... bestbattle in gsd imo =/... It showed potential at first you know, but went down hill. Think they said in the GSD thread that Bandai went in and said something like "Impulse isn't selling good enough make it destroy Freedom" also went on and and wanted a new Freedom and Justice so they could sell more of them. I have to give them credit for Justice really do like those leg slicers of his, Freedom... the only thing I liked was his new rifles the old rifle look ugly if you ask me other then that I like the old one better. Also since they changed the story halfway it became kind of messed up and rushed. Wonder what the original story line was. Since it was a sequal with someone else as main character I think alot didn't like it and complained.
So those are a few of the resons why it sucked and the things jckool said reccap+reused battle+nothing happening

yeah, justice they made cool.. somewhat. i mean everytime i watch it i suddenly think. woah justice is breakdancing again!... err anyway.. yeah, freedom's backpacks. i HATE them.. they look ugly ithink.. and impulse was so cheap in that battle... now if only zaft actually cared about the money it spent on gundams.... thats like alot of money gone just in that battle. all to take out one puny gundam that comes back stronger and better.. yay score 1 for shinn the idiot.

i swear they need to make an action figure justice that can breakdance.. now if they did that i'd be eternally happy. o_o... breakdancing gundams = good. fukuda = bad ..

NAH don't buy legend, its design is one of the worse in my opinion.

Providence looks ok because of its golden colour somewhere at its cockpit (i think thats where it is)
while Legend is like just a red spot there, doesn't blend well and looks hella boring
A breakdancing Justice in real life... who wouldn't buy one? Very Happy

yay someone agrees with me!..i actually think legend looks...well i wouldnt buy it but..i guess its livable with.. all grey gets boring though... providence looks fine, legend is just..really..repetitive..so really.. IJ is like the only suit i want as a model.. that and i want an archangel o_O

i like gundam seed because the gaphic is better. the gundams is cooler and the girl and story is better

I think the gundam series are very popular, because of the robos, the fights, and the good story in all series of gundam (seed, wing).

The reason Gundam SEED became popular is because the timing of its release and the name of the franchise. The Gundam franchise is well established so when SEED was released, it easily topped other competitors. But, it also went downhill. Expectations were high for the series that when it committed mistakes, it crashed down like the Rurouni Kenshin TV series. It's poor storyline, plot, characterization and animation are redeemed by mecha battles and the franchise name.

As for the animation, it is only good. It is not the best, there are old anime series which have beautiful animation than the new ones released today. There are lots of flashy scenes in the anime which are painful to look at times. Mecha designs here mostly are upgraded to fit the taste for the new generations of fans.

As for the storyline, the story could be better if the characterization is done much better. The plot and story are affected by the poor characterization. The perfect example of poor characterization is Kira Yamato, the main protagonist. When you put him in the Gundam, he is an unstoppable fighter but when he kills, he cries like a baby. Other Gundam series never portrayed the pilots like this. This is the first Gundam series that portrayed a character like this.

Ya... I agree with katsushiro. I personally liked the older series much better than the more recent ones.

The worst part about GS is that they reused the same frame over and over to save money. Also, as the guy above said, the series becomes shit after episode... 30? somewhere around there. Besides, the only reason SEED was popular was because of its previous Gundam series, and the fact that japan is made of many many many gundam crazed fans who just watched seed out of loyalty.

Gundam Seed became taht popular because the script was, how would I say this, dramatic. It is a very nice story, the turn of events, the change in sides, the death of friends, and finally ending the war. I liked it, I am a fan of it, but why is the story not original? I completely understood the story, but there was a slight mistake, Kira Yamato never dies!! LOLZ Exclamation
