Why is Gundam Seed such a popular hit?

maybe it because of the fight for peace and also the cute lacus-san which peformed so many song in the series that it was so popular and also what katsushiro said death of friend and betrayal of friendship is also a factor for the popular series

all the previous gundam series does not have any relation with nuclear weapon as well, it could be one of the reason why it was so popular Smile

for destiny series it has dissapointed so many fans around the world and japan as well because of the reused scenes that make it so badly critised Sad

I'll agree with Des, the story did help revive the Gundam Franchise but it did not save the reputations of both Mitsuo Fukuda and his wife, Chiaki Morosawa.

Fukuda has been called by these following names - "Flashback'em All" - For lots of flashback to both SEED and SEED Destiny. "Clip'em All" - For showing "clip shows" which are close when shown and "Bring'em All" - For bringing people who are thought to be dead and wil return eventually. Thanks to Wikipedia for giving the nicknames of Mitsuo Fukuda.

i don't get it either, i watched a few episodes because i heard 'gundam' and i went 'hurrah! more gundam!'
then i was sorely disappointed. i don't like the artwork at all, and the plots are kind of...well...for a gundam series...they should have just stuck with the original characters of wing, and a similar plot, only just a continuation (not sure how they could do that, but, well, i'm not a producer...)
i read somewhere that gundam seed was supposed to be like a watered-down version of wing, with some romance and stuff mixed in for the 'younger generation' but i don't think that worked out too well. it turned into a drama rather than a military story, and drama and mecha didn't mix too well in seed's case.

ok G-seed is the first mecha anime that i watch in 2004 Razz

i myself will never have interest in watching any other gundam

there're so many things that make g-seed famous compare to other gundam,,,

1. story, each character have their own situation, i would say that there is no good or bad side, both the earth and coordinator have reasonsonable purpose for killing each other. each times u finish watch an episodes there will something that make u wanna watch the next episode

2. "childhood friend that're forced to kill each other", an interesting theme in G-seed whereby kira, a coordinator has to fight the cordinators and his childhood friend (athurn) in order to protect his earth friends.
Along the story both kira's friend will be killed by athurn and athurn's friend (nicol)killed by kira. i think this is really touched

3. charcter design,, we cannt disagrre with the fact that better looking chracter will put more interest for general public. in G-seed case they have:
a) kira, he's good looking, cute, has great skill and weak character ( he cry few times)

b) Lacusu, she's just perfect in everything, i mean EVERYTHING. cute,beautiful, inteliggent, dependent and strong charcter yet still sweet, i know a lot of preveted want her hentai version ^__^

c) flay, eventhough she's a bitch she also makes this anime story interesting

4 opening and ending song which can make us fell like we'r in the gundam world itself.

ok here is some answer
firstly if you ask why it that popular than it is like asking WHY POKEMON IS POPULAR

seriously it is easy to think that either pokemon or gundam lacking of originality

but if you expand it more than you can say that this world itself lacking of originality
example we want to fly like a bird but we can't so we create plane that shape like a bird(not 100% just the main design and wings)

now the second is you just tink if you watch an old anime like dragonball or doraemon after you watch something like full metal alchemist
you would see that the retro anime have soo bad graphic (some like old one though but most like new one)
that is why the Remade the anime change abit here and there so the people would not bored

imagine that you can only have 32 bit graphic without posibility to make it into 64 or more bad right
so that is another reason for an upgrade

also imagine that you can't but new weapon or equipment while your enemy(monster what ever) have a huge boost simply to say you are stuck wih what you have in the beginning of the game its feel bad right so they make new one

The MAIN POINT is they REMADE it so people wouldn't feel bored with the old one
