i dont actually know if it counts as anime.... it was fully CG but as usual i think that the story was awsome and the graphics of that were like great,sometimes it felt like it was a movie with real pepole playing in it

while i do admit that the CG graphics were a big step up from even what we see now in FF games, the story was weak. Also, with the Final Fantasy moniker, i expected to see magic and summons and things like that. machine guns? Giant orbiting lasers? aliens? thats not right!

the story was mediocre, i was expecting a LOT more from the first cg final fantasy movie

i was expecting magic too. the story i disliked. i seriously expected it to be based off one of the games at least.

the storyline didnt really intrest me. i just found it boring, it wasnt fantasy like, like the games give off a really fantasy arua to it but final fantasy spirts within was dumb.

I think they tried to americanize this movie quite a lot (all those jokes in the movie and the typical "funny characters" that we always see in Hollywood movies), therefore was the story not that good (if not bad...). It just didn't seem like FF or "Japanese". I am not sure though if the movie had a chance to begin with. They wanted to make a movie for casual people as well not just the FF fans, it wouldn't sell anyway (not that it did after all...) Moreover, the stories we are used to with the FF games take hours to unfold words, characters situations and so on. Could it have been possible to squeeze all this in the short time of a movie? For me, the story reminded me a bit of FFVII, this Gaia, spirits and so thingie sounded like materia, holly and lifestream.
In the end it might have been a nice movie to watch just for the CG but other than that it doesn't worth ones while.

The CG was good.I think the move was okay.I was mad at the end tho.I liked grey he was cool.So was his other crew mates.But the movies graphics were great on a acount that the were so real.

Well,the CG sure is cool and fantastic.It is disappointing that the story is ,well, weak....After Watching this movie(and the Final Fantasy anime), I really thought that squaresoft should just concentrate in making games.

i LOVED the animation in the movie... although you can't have something pretty going with something average like it's story... the story definately took away from it...

I really liked the movie. I thought the story and animation were great. However, It did not deserve the FF title. It had absolutely nothing to do with FF, except that the name Cid was given to a character. I have to say I was expecting some epic along the general line of FF, so in that area it was a letdown.
