Sakura from Naruto: Why is she a main character?

Sakura I think is an iteresting character, shes the *living* proof that girls aren't all angels as they seem to be Razz

. In my opinion its cool and funny when she pretends to be nice while inside she's furious.

From what i read Sakura is a preppy girl who depends on her intelect, i think that many readers could like the character beacause her way of being resembles their own: ambitious, smart, determined but a bit too serious though in my opinion(which isnt a bad thing to show in a anime character).

I dont think that you can ask why is one character is main or not, such was the authors thought to make Sakura chan the main character. That is my opinion.

there are many reasons why Sakura is placed in main character groop:
1. first she loves Saske, and naruto loves her....
2. almost every teem of 3 has one girl (no matter if that girl is smart, strong etc)
3. also, despite her uncapabelety of doing smth sometimes with her characters she brings funny moments.

annoying as sakura is, she is their for a reason she is the nuetral party member between sasuke and naruto, she's their to balance them out. personally i wanted someone to stab her in the head with a kunai, but you never get what you want Crying or Very sad

well, don't know if anyone's mentioned this before, but Sakura in the group also kinda makes this team the new "3 legendary ninjas" like with the 3rd's students. She's not all that annoying but you can't just have Sasuke and Naruto, those two are complete opposites, and way too sharp a contrast. Having Sakura in the group bridges the chasm between the two and also provides some relief by having someone both Sasuke and Naruto would be ok with.

Love interest, yeah, why not, it helps to pull the mood sometimes from just brutally hateful to a bit less and sometimes comedic as well. Sakura's pretty good to have in the group.

i read the first page of this thread and realized ppl like to bash sakura cos she's pathetic, annoying, useless and always gets in the way damsel-in-distress character.and i have to agree completely. i wonder y the artist juz doesn't create a hot, sexy character we all can drool about (so can sasuke and naruto, but its up to them rite?)... or at least let sakura grow up a bit...

not yet read the whole manga, but one things for sure, she's a hindrance in the team 7 kakashi in the beginning.

She becomes useful in the later parts of the Manga. Shes still pretty annoying, but at least she starts to do useful things for the team. I wont spoil anything, but I will say that she proves her use as both a fighter and a healer.
