Sakura from Naruto: Why is she a main character?

correctly said Sakura only eva does something useful in the ova release ep 2, but i believe she is there to create a futhur rivalry between souske and naruto, think about it without her it would be like a gay anime

Why else, she is the one that Naruto has a crush on. Well in manga, Sakura will later on become real useful. She is a great healer and in addition she will have the strenght of the fifth, Tsunade.

Sakuras there because they needed a girl origanally and eventually she becomes useful...eventually. But She awesome once she does, I mean cutting of her own hair and then BITING someone for her man, in the same day! Hah. But then she kinda becomes useless again and then... 2 and a half years later... Kaboom haha. Super strengh! and shes a medical ninga(like we didnt see that coming.

Sakura becomes very deadly in series 2. Not only is she an excellent medical ninja, she also has incredible superstrength and speed. She even played a major part in defeating a member of Akatsuki. Surprised

She's there because of her large, shiny forehead. Plus she has inner thoughts. But she's just a late bloomer guys. Like KillerEx said, she turns out to be a kick-a** ninja with amazing strength and awesome healing skills. If you realize, she has tiny,kinda important roles that you don't even realize at first.

But I still think she's there for the sake of her large forehead Rolling Eyes

Sakura is a main character because she represents a renessonce girl. Yes of course she is the Sakura who has a crush on Sasuke, but she is also the hard working girl who wants to pull her own weight. Even when things seemed down like in the forest of death when Sakura was trying to protect Sasuke and Naruto after their encounter with Orichimaru, she never gave. Though when the people from the sound tribe attacked, she was saved by Rock Lee. Still she pulled her own, cut her hair, and did her best to help. Smile

even if she's a super good medic and strong lady, she is still as annoying as ever. i jsut can't beluieve she doesnt like naruto , who is practically devoted to her. she instead likes sasuke who doesnt care at all .

yeah, shes like the token black guy of those crappy movies... shes the token love interest of the series.... i agree her helplesness does piss me off alot, but its her role in the series.

She isn't that useless anymore. With the up-to-date manga, she is an awesome ninja. We don't know MUCH about her medical skills yet, but we do know that her super-strength and speed are what make her quite the kick*** one.

And about the whole love interest thing. She's just the typical schoolgirl with the typical schoolgirl crush. She sees Sasuke as perfect, and Naruto as imperfect. Therefore, she will only be able to see Sasuke as the one for her at the current time, as her ignorance blinds her to Naruto.

And Naruto isn't really anymore devoted to Sakura than Sasuke is, he might show it a little more, but he isn't really. He's just kinda horny. =P

In the beginning, I though Sakura to be an annoying character, but as the story moves on, she develops into the main character she should be. I agree that she was annoying, but she actually becomes a pretty cool character later on.

every series has a "cool guy" who needs groupies... thus sakura and ino are major characters because of this. then since the "three ninjas" came around, someone had to be the child prodigy for tsunade, so there you have it. all three prodigies all in one group, dejavu all over again. of course, now she isn't a complete waste of a character, which is good to know, too bad it took like 30 volumes in order to get there though.

sakura is there because they need three people for a team and also it would seem sexist if there wasn't a girl as a main character.
but she becomes awsome later on in the manga.
