the other day, i heard a person saying that setting the law doesn't do anything. those who run the red light will still do so and murderers will still kill.
just wondering what you think about it.
there are still people breaking the law, but i think more people would do so if there really weren't law. |

| Hmm I'm pretty sure it's because we call ourselves civilized.. just to ensure equality (somewhat) and order there needs to be rules and enforcer of rules. Of course there will always be people who break the law.. but think about all the people who would rob a store if there were no consequences. |

the law in any country works only some times.
most of the time the guys and girls how are to enforce it are power less because of the damn law that protect the law breakers
you just cant arrest them most of the time because some idiot made a mistake. with paper pushing most of the time.
or sometimes the arrested crook just gets of because of not reading his rights fast enough. like they got the right of having rights when they killed or raped a person
i say as a ex-law-enforcer just shoot to kill them with a license to kill.
that way you save a lot of money that the tax payers pay.
and no i am not a ex-lawman because of that.
i am a ex-lawman because i did it by the book and would not look the other way. |

| That depends. The human nature is a wicked thing, and it only listen to it's evil intention, instead of the useless laws. |

| Ofcourse the law is affective. Though there are some stupid ones(for example, you can't eat a sandwhich in a burning building in Chicago) , others will prevent the average person from trying anything stupid just to get a quick buck. |

| It all depends on peoples, some laws effect because peoples following it. But human can be cruel, bad, so you don't know what they'll do. But some laws are made to be broken. |

| well some laws are and some laws aren't, that's the way it is. it just depends on the person, if they think they can get caught or not, that's how affective the law is. |

Meh laws help, some are silly, some are common sense, but hey "common sense is not so common" voltaire i think said that but hey what it really can end up bolining down to is how smart you are (to avoid crime or cover it up better) and how much money you have (this is true atleast here in the USA where the dollar means more than life to so many people.) But where there is people there will always be things like murders and shit because people arent perfect and more often than not like to take the easy way out. |

| as it is sed in the bible, we are all born from sin, thus even though you can try to be good, being sinful is part of us, what we have in life is actually the ability to have choices, laws just lays down the consequences for the actions that we take that are consider immoral in the eyes of the public, law is the only thing in our life that is the difference between being moral and being ignorant. |

the law... generalizes morals, it can't be so specific and arbitrary and still be "fair" to everyone, or even anyone. Fairness is an ideal that may not even exist for us, maybe we think we get close. We do rely on the law, it helps keep things from falling apart, ensures the continuation of our relatively safe daily lives, but no matter what, it will have soo many flaws.. hey, that rhymes with laws... hmm, some interesting points that i never thought about.
i also think that some laws are stupid and in some case they protect the law-breakers.
i dont think countries are enforcing the law as much as they should. The government probably doesnt want to arrest too many because they don't have or don't want to spend money to keep people in prison.. maybe thats why the law doesnt have effect on some people. |

| no, atleast not here in australia. if a thief demands you feed him and you don't, you can be charged for this (And it has happend). the law favours the criminals and makes it difficult for the victims here |

seriously? that sounds crazy.
some countries should really revise their laws. perhaps for some of them, they were once reasonable and effective but the society has changed dramatically and requires revisions periodically. |
