The best game ever?

I would say the best game is Counter-Strike (a online computer game). Wink

Half-Life by far was the best and most popular game ever and I meen the best. Counter Strike is a mod based on the Half-Life engine. Counterstrike is the best mod game out there and the most popular for its time, the game its self is 3 years old and its still the most played mod on the market at least for FPS games.

I, personally, would have to go with Wolfenstein 3D, followed up closely by King's Quest V (im already getting nostalgic...).

I would like to say Fallout is the best hardcore RPG game ever that appeared on PC. Just my preference. Smile

Final Fantasy is simply the best...all of them but my personal fave would be FFVI....hmm,makes me feel like playing it all over again.. Very Happy

i'll certainly would not forget Secret Of Mana too..esp the 1st

silly debate really(patronizing voice) u cant deide absolutely impossble any decision made will not be agreed upon by everyone which is kind of required to fullfil its title. For exaple i bloody h8 final fantasy games because iam a person who needs real time control over any fighting going on which is fluctuaded with smoothe animation etc etc i do not like my involvment to be in the form of menu's etc.
Any way this game would have to be one which wen compared to future titles would be found far superior which is v unlikely given the current progress games r making i.e far cry, half life 2, doom 3, stalker, the ut series, war craft etc etc, u cannot and willnot decide on a title ever which will be the best game ever unless its 1. got the general concensus as being the greatest and 2. is the moment before existance no longer exists so no other game will b made and no1 around 2 create it so that the during the point in time every1 has agreed on said game it will be the best game ever.
This kind of debate shouldnt really be one that draws so much interest as its not worth contributing to unless your dismissing it.
Better topic would be your fave games right now etc etc (patronizing tone receeds into nothingness)

Well, it's either Devil May cry, DDR, Breath of Fire III, Tales of Phantasia, Final Fantasy 1, Tetris...

As you can see, it's near impossibly for me to decide on the best one out of all the games. It would be a tad bit easier if this were genre specific, but it's not, so it's simply impossibly for me. There's more game runner ups for this decision too, I could list at least 20 more games that I think are as good as the games I listed.

But still, its all good to be divided. Its a part of gaming. But I set this up to see if anyone besides myself could say, above all other games, was his/her personal favorite. Not many by the looks of it, but still...

I was torn between FFVI, Zelda:ALTTP, and Super Metroid. But I soundly chose mine, and I was, more or less, challenging others to do the same.

It would bring up issues of what a great game is, where this will be in our hearts 1, 5, 10 years later, replay-ability, ect...

Its a pretty good exercize.

....and besides that, I wanted to create the largest forum in the category Very Happy

BTW samonmoose, no offence, but chill. I completely agree with you, on everything besides the FF stuff, and that kinda thinking is what I was supporting.

i was chilled but i heard this debate so many times i was just trying 2 nip it in the bud if people atually thought they was gonna b able 2 decide.
My ultimate game would be an all out war fps, which has the best graphics is totally mp and lag free u actually take part in team work due to a rank system o some kind that is inforced and u hav real time voice comms that save on lag cause they r localized within a certain area. i grew tirred of counter strike long ago cos of all the cheating and the repititon (everyone knows the maps so well they could draw em 100% accuratly and list em in alphabetical order) and cause the knife is severly underpowered. Tom clancy's ravenshield was my next stop and it had a really nice fluidity but completely fukked up on the weapon balance and for some reason unknown made the bullets originate from the head so at point blank u would miss people and other occasions with only the 4head visible people would gun u down, so me and 5 of my m8's simaltaniously quit it, o yeh and the frag spamming and reliance was B-A-D.
I like skill based games where there is no edge lamers can get and abuse to ruin it for everyone else. Right now i play ninja gaiden for my x box alot cos of the speed and skill involved and the seriously satisfying combat tops the thrills from devil may cry 10 times over. There will be other games though but right now its ninja gaiden and sould calibur 2 for me! Twisted Evil

Well, the only game that even remotely fits into your description of your greatest game would be Planetside, but I have yet to play it myself. It supposively ranks you on commander points (or somethin else, this is from memory) and allows you access to the good gear with a good rank. Online only, is suppose to run pretty smoothly, might just be worth diggin up some info on.

hi, lol i folowed that game for two years since it was first announced, my friend got chosen to be a beta tester and it didnt turn out great its all very stiff simple ugly design, the weps r bloody terrible in 1st person etc etc realistically i reckon im gonna hav 2 w8 a good while b4 any 1 comes close Crying or Very sad

But people often get some of it right like the day of defeat mod, i really hope they port that to half life 2 Very Happy

I can't pick a fav. Has anyone heard of the tv channel G4(now G4Techtv)? They had a thing on that where they showed the top 99 best games. The Zelda games came in first and were closely followed by FF games. Soo many good games!!
