I've very much enjoyed Newtype over the past few years. It has helped me consider quite a few very enjoyable Animes, the most noteable being Elfen Lied (which then inspired me to find cool web sites like Anime-source because I just HAD to to do some kind of communicating about how enjoyable this series was). I've got some big complaints about this mag though.

First, it's pretty dang expensive! Second, beware that they don't give any helpful, genuine "negative" reviews of Anime series. They only say good stuff. Unfortunately, this means that this mag won't help WARN us of bad Animes, like Dears, Ugly & Beautiful, and most recently Solty Rei. I've found that sites like Anime-source have been even MORE helpful in trying to figure out the goodies from the baddies. Everyone, please keep up with your thoughtful reviews. They ARE a big help. Thanks!
