I'll pas on the "turn off your firewall" way. since I already got my PC screwed when it was "turned off", THAT was a nightmare for me!( I actually didn't turn it off, it was just off when i checked it). It's your choice if you turn off your firewall.
my slowest would be : 1-10 kbps
normal: 20-30 kbps
fast: 60-160 kbps (only when there are lost of peers and seeders)
GIGS will take me days or even weeks...just like when I DL'ed Fullmetal Alchemist (8 GIGS!) _________________ PS3 Trophies

OK, it is not really a lot factor on the client. Yeah, some are better, but do not really affect much of the speed. There are a lot of factors which can result in the slow speed of BT. I can get as slow as 500 B/s and can go as fast as 250 KB/s!! It can make a lot of difference due to a lot of factors.
Maybe you can tell me these things before I can advice you further:
1) What type of connection you use? What is the speed of the connection?
2) What tracker did the torrent file use?
3) Did you use a router or just directly from modem?
4) Computer Specification.
5) If you use a wireless router, what kind of receiver you use? USB, Ethernet or WiFi?
If you can tell me these few things, then I can advice you more and tips on how to improve your download speed.
I go about 233.8 kb/s and 261.3 kb/s is the fastest i have ever seen.
bt client -> Azureus the latest release which is "2.3.0.4"
1) Cable - 4 megs: did a speed test it comes around 550 kb/s
2) What tracker? -> its from http://a.scarywater.net/
3) I have a router conected to a modem so i guess ROUTER
4) 2.6 ghz , 512 ddr , 200 gb hdd , Win xp sp2
5) Ethernet
I am curently performing a test and post some screens of it. Give me any feedback about improving my speed

i'm using both., but lately i'm having difficulty with bit tornado., maybe have to reformat it again., something is not right w/ my OS.,
so right now i'm using bitcommet., but it didn't give me 100+kB/s unlike in bittornado when downloading popular torrent, (e.g. naruto, bleach, etc). In Bittornado, i just set up my connection to dial-up then my download speeds when up like that while my upload speed maintains the speed as low as 5kB/s.,
when using bit commet, i have to set it up like 20kB/s (which is 80% of my upload rate) to have the optimum performance., yet it doesn't give me much download speeds., most likely, the fastest one i've seen is like 40kB/s., is there a way to beef up my download speed??

If you have cable, then should not be a problem and I saw that you have a very good CPU specification. That is left with some configurations which you can check in my thread. I have explained step-by-step about the configuration and check out whether it can improve.
If not then, I can say that either it is not a popular torrent file, or that the peers that you are connected to are not giving you decent speed.

Yellow means it is behind firewall, so it does not mean that it can't download. It just mean that some ports are closed. I have one case that it turns yellow all the time, but can get 20 KB/s speed. _________________ Innocent Tranquility

hmm, for me:
Slowest (when there are either no seeds): 1-10kB/s
Normal (normal anime/manga/hentai torrents): 10-300kB/s
Fastest (my theretical limit, since I use 10M Broadband): 0.3-1.25MB/s
btw, it is advisable to have MORE THAN ONE BT client on your comp, the reason being that some sub groups (like KAA, for example) bans Bitcomet BT clients, which can be very annoying at times. So I have Bitcomet to handle most BT files, and ABC to handle special cases like KAA's tracker(s).
i just got Bit commet and im usually at 65 kb/s but i cant view any of the files cause i have to use safe mode but i still d/l for the hell of it so when i can use the normal mode ill be able view them.

You can open as many as you can, but I recommend opening not more than 4 for BitTornado and 8 for Azureus. For BitComet, I haven't tried giving them endurance test yet, so I'm not so sure about it. _________________ Innocent Tranquility

oh wow... you ppl are crazy...11 files at once >_< your hard disk will die soon at this rate. For me, max I opened is 4, but I am not in a hurry to download everything anyway, cos I usually turn on my BT in the morning, make a queue of files I want to download, and then head off to school. By the time I came back all of the files are done.
