Could be your modem or your ISP. It really depends. Check out all the physical connection to and from the modem and try to connect for a few days and see how it is. If it is still like that, try to call your ISP about your connection and maybe they can help out. _________________

Try to run your antivirus software and check whether there are some viruses in your system. Clean up any virus and try to log in normally and see whether the problem persists. _________________

Does upgrading my video card solve my problem on laggy games?(like Counter-Strike: Source? CS just works fine)) since I haven't upgraded it yet. and is it possible to install it myself? or should I request to install it? _________________

OK, there are 2 types of lag: Graphics Lag and Connection Lag. It will improve graphics lag when you upgrade your graphics card, but if it is connection lag, then regardless of your good graphics card, your game will still lag. Maybe you want to check whether it is connection or graphics lag by playing non-online games like Doom 3 or Half-life.
Should you want to buy, make sure you know what slot you have: PCI-E or AGP. You can install it yourself if you know where the slot is on your motherboard. If not, then maybe you can ask more experienced friends to install or the asked the vendor whether they can help to install. _________________

I think it's the video card since even if I play "offline" on source...it's like ****...
the older CS versions just works fine online. Source really gave me problems playing online and offline. since I really saw the difference in their graphics enhancements on Source.
oh...and about the connection problem I have. when I went to my ISP's home page it seems that Microsoft's Service pack 2 is the cause of the problem I'm having. _________________

Okay, I'm a total newbie when it comes to computers, so forgive me if this was answer before, but my BT download speed is horrid. The status light is yellow, so I think its firewall problem or what ever, but not too sure, because I don't know much about computers, but I did the first two steps on the first page, the whole:
1st Setting
First things first, the first setting is only applicable for Windows 2000 and XP Professional user only. This option does not appear in Win98SE and below. Click on Start>>Run or just hold 'Windows' key and 'R'. Type in gpedit.msc then press enter. Click on Administrative Templates>>Network>>QoS Packet Scheduler and then double click on 'Limit Reservable Bandwidth'. Enable it and then change the value in the field to 0%. After that, apply the setting.
2nd Setting
The second setting is very deadly as by doing it, a sword appears on your screen and started to slash you to death. HAHAHAHA!! You're DEAD!!
Or that's what I want to say, but no, it will not happen that way . But rather, this setting will put your computer at risk if you do not apply latest patches for windows. The magic setting is: TURN OFF YOUR FIREWALL!! Yes, you heard it right (Ooops, should be seen ), you have to turn off your firewall in order for you to maximise the download speed. No worries about this as there is one more security that I used to make sure your PC security is not compromised (Well, if you use Windows, anything can be compromised ). It involves a router so if you do not have a router, then you should depend on installing latest patches from Microsoft and some prayer so that hackers will not hack your system . After you turn off the firewall, then go on to the third setting.
Okay, I did up to that point, and the dl speed did went somewhat faster, but the status light thing is still yellow, I went on to the 3rd step, but I cant seem to dl the thing you mention, and what exactly is port fowarding? Can somebody explained to me in detail on how to do it? |

Check out the 4th setting. I've explained in details what port forwarding is in that setting section. _________________
