this has been bothring me for quite a long time now...and I'm sure my question will be a total noob question. (forgive my noobish actions)
How can I exactly download a torrent or file via IRC? Please explain it to me step by step on how to make this work....
domo
its hard to describe it here, but its quite easy to actually do it
when you are in a channel like #anime-source @rizon.net
type in !list
a list of fservs will show up (list of people that are willing to send their files to you)
they will display their triger ex: /ctcp idjota_manga
type in that trigger and a new window will pop up
if a list of files does not show up type in dir
if you want to open a folder type in cd <name of folder> and then dir again
there you select a file that you want to download and type in get <file name>
and you start downloading
if you are going to download from a bot then usually you will type in
"/msg <bot name> xdcc list " to list the files that the bot is hosting
once you know what you want you type in "/msg <bot name> xdcc send #<number> " where number is the number of the file you want to download
I believe that this is it, there might be few minor detail i might have left out but what you have to do is do a litle trial and error, thats how i learned and it took me less than a week to learn how to download things so it should not be hard for you, but there is a lot more things to IRC that i'm still learning about (i would consider my self a noob to IRC even though i've been using it for about 2 years now) _________________ [img:387:120:36cb7a5440]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v98/idjota/BL.jpg[/img:36cb7a5440]

Well, in this thread, this is where it is all about anyways. It is about newbies asking things without being scolded back or ignored ^^ _________________ Innocent Tranquility

In that case, do you know about clubbox?? i better ask this question before asking more indepth questions about that particular program _________________
I am on a roll... no one has yet to answer my previous question but i have another one. I see that people often convert their video files from like avi to rmvb or to something else. WHy do they do that, what do the other format other than Avi have to offer. I thought ogg was the up and coming format but i still see alot of trend going around like mkv, avi, ogg, rmvb and such. there is no specific one that everyone will stick to. Please explain. Thanks _________________

For that, usually there are a lot of factor why people choose certain format than the others, but let me explain each of the formats in details:
avi: This format has been used frequently especially in the fansubbing world. This is the most basic video format used nowadays. Some of the famous avi encodes that are used are DivX and XviD.
rmvb: This format has been a real hit since it can actually store a high quality video with file size less than half of its avi.
ogm: This format is huge compared to all the formats, but stored one of the highest quality video. This video are also able to store 2 different audio streams which can be switched according to preference of the audience.
mkv: This format is similar to ogm functions, but with different storing system of the stream files. _________________ Innocent Tranquility

avi and rmvb are codecs. but avi is also a container. ogm's and mkv's are file containers only.
Not a whole lot of people convert to rmvb. However, there are still alot of people convert to .rm's because they want to share the videos to the people who are still on 56k modems.
THanks both of you. Well Jsyek, Club box is something like a new trend to like share big big files - typically movies.
If you are not a fan of downloading movies to watch but rather going to cinemas then i think this is not the program for you.
The main site to download it is www.clubbox.com. BUt it is all in Korean so therefore you have to like use a tutorial where it will guide you all the way via pictures.
If you are a fan of Chinese shows, mainly asian shows and sometimes they do post american Movies, head to www.asianfanatics.net.
here is the tutorial on how to use it. When you get the hang of it, let me know, ill tell you that in one section of the process, it doesnt work for me.
Now lets move on, there are sites where i cant view images. Even when i highlight the whole page, IF there is an image, the image locatin will be a highlighted patch right? even if it doesnt load yet. BUT in my case, there is nothing there. When i do check with other people, they say the image IS there. What could be the problem??? _________________

Hey, is there a way to turn your comp to XP Pro from XP Home without buying those CD that cost like <$60?
Nice signature btw jsy3k, very sexy XD
I don't think so although I have never tried since some of the things exists in Professional Edition does not exist in Home Edition. What I can actually suggest is try to upgrade your Service Pack to SP2 and then try whether you can run gpedit.msc since this function only exist in Professional. If not, then I should say that it is impossible to do that.
Thanks for the compliment. I am going to change that soon though =)

So is there anyway to crack those password down?
No, unfortunately, unless you know how to hack software. _________________ Innocent Tranquility
