oh okay. by the way, what was that RTM and the wink you were talking about earlier??
also when i tried to create a static ip address, this warning message poped up:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\command.com
C:\WINDOWS\system32\AUTOEXEC.NT.
This system file is not suitable for
running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications
what's going on? |

Looks like you use Windows98 SE.....and the command prompt could be corrupted if you can't even go into the command prompt. I suggest reformatting your computer and then reinstall the Windows98SE or upgrade to Windows XP Professional with SP2.
And would like to thank Frundock and especially for matti123 for answering the questions above. Thank you very much!! *bows* _________________

If you are using Windows XP, it must not be "command". It should be "cmd" when you want to go into the prompt. After that, continue on with the setting up of the static IP. _________________

another question (Jsy3k): now that i have set everything up, i found out that my ip addressed changed from my original one to the one that i chose outside of the DHCP range. is this correct?
also, on my routers set up page, the column labeled "private ip" should i enter my original one or the new one? |

Yes, if your ip address is the same as your set private ip, then it is correct. For the private ip, just set your new one which you have set for the static ip.
Hope that helps _________________

Yes, it is OK and correct. And yeah, you just need to input the new ip address into the private ip column.
Anyways, Tips and Tricks #III is out for good old people who wants to boost their performance of their PC. Enjoy!! _________________

Actually both are correct. I did some searching and it looks like it can be some kind of a worm. poiurewqfdsa, maybe something from here will help you (or maybe not ). And BTW Jsy3k, wasn't suggestion to reinstall Windows a bit drastic?
