| My household has 3 computers total, 1 laptop, 2 desktops... One of the desktops has more dust than a vaccuum cleaner after cleaning... And I was wondering what is a good way to clear out the dust |

2 good item to have: damp cloth and tissue.
It is more than enough to clean up all the dust on your computer. Just make sure that you do not damp it too much.
For the mouse, if it is a ball mouse, try to open up and remove the ball and then check out the roller inside. Remove the sticky dust that sticks to the roller using toothpick or blunt end of the needle. Also use a tissue to clean the interior of the mouse. If it is optical, just clean the optical lens using a normal tissue and it should be OK. You can clean the mouse body using damp cloth.
For monitors, if it is a CRT, damp cloth should be enough. If it is LCD, try some dry tissue.
For keyboard, try to make sure you clean the edges of the buttons using a damp cloth and let it dry before using it.
Hope that helps to remove most of the dust from your computer. _________________

i would suggest vacuuming it 1st if you say there are tooooOoOooOoo much dust. This would suck out most of the dust and then only clean up the rest using a damp cloth or tissue.
Bear in mind there will be some unwanted events like some nuts and bolts will be suck in or some loose components being sucked in to the vacuum cleaner so take precaution if you want to use this step.

for the case of the main computer, i would suggest a can of compressed air and a low powered hand vacuum. common dust collection spots on a case are fans, heat sinks, closed off spaces, and under the motherboard. _________________

like ddog said, to clean off the dust inside your comp, a can of compressed air is great, for some reason i have lost of dust in my comp so i clean it about every 3 months, i take my case to a garage, and just get rid of all the dust, for exterior cleaning just use a dust cloth. and i would never use a vacum on my comp since it actually generates static electricity and i don't want that around my motherboard _________________ [img:387:120:36cb7a5440]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v98/idjota/BL.jpg[/img:36cb7a5440] |

A can of DUST-OFF (Compressed air for electronics and other devices) will do the job. You can buy this at almost any computer/electronics shop. They come in individuals and cases. Approx $15 for a set of 8 cans.
Using a cloth and water on your computer could be harmful to some devices and some parts in the computer are extremely fragile.
CAUTION: If you plan on touching any interior parts of your computer, wear a 'anti-static brace' if you have one. If you accidentally shock your mother board or graphics card, say good-bye to it because a small shock is enough to fry the circuit or damage it. |
