i don't totally agree about the RTS genre, but as for TBS, my fav is advanced wars.

Starcraft>Warcraft III

Best PC strategy game I ever played.

Any game you play and keep for over 5 years should be kept for a lifetime.
Hands down the best game.

Rank#7 on Ign.com top 100 games of all time

the only other pc games ranked in the top ten were
# 009 // Star Wars: TIE Fighter Collector's CD-ROM
# 004 // Sid Meier's Civilization II and
# 006 // Sid Meier's Pirates!

Personally I think its the best strategy game ever.

Warcraft is more time consuming than Starcraft. Took a while longer to build things sometimes.

Civilization III is fun. Disgaea is also a great game (if you're into strategy RPGs). Starcraft definitely takes the cake though.

I didn't like Warcraft 3.
I didn't like how they excelled the story so rapidly. Adding so many features and characters in different races at once - not my style.
