ALIEN vs. PREDATOR - AVP

I'm really looking forward to this movie, but at the same time, I'm afraid that it's going to be all hype like Freddy vs. Jason.

im a huge aliens fan but when it comes to predators.... Well.... heh not my cup o' tea. I absolutly hated freddy vs Jason. It wasnt scary at all. It was like a bad B level entry film. But as for this one... I wanna see it but it just gonna be big alien battles with some frantic humans involved in a thrown together plot. Plus they dont have ripley. You can make an alien movie withoug siggorny. So hts just my take on it.

WHAT!?! You think the storyline will be GOOD!?! This is a movie, doomed to be bad, based off of a video game made at least 10 years ago, for GENESIS nonetheless, a great system, but this wasn't one of their best moments. Now then, you have this old video game, based off of two mediocre-yet-legendary sci-fi horror movies. This movie is going to wind up in the shitter, right next to Freddy Vs. Jason and Episode 1. Everyone is gonna think it's gonna be so great, it's gonna suck. But, alas, people will still praise it because of graphics, and the die-hard fans will love it, and the people who backed it so strongly beforehand will say it was good because they don't want to admit they were wrong, oh so very wrong. The movie, as far as box office intakes go, will be a sucess, unless it's so bad that word of mouth spreads fast enough to stop it. Personally, I'm going to download the movie, burn it to CD, then urinate on the CD.

freddy vs jason was pure hollywood, but there was an avp comic from some years ago. i heard from someone who read the comic that the movie preview looked like it picked up on the comic story some. so there is still a chance that it wont be a zero.

I’m with Kytt on this one, this movie has almost everything going against it.. Oh and you want to talk bad Jason movies, Jason X oh dear god they must have been high on all kinds of garage paraphernalia when they came up with that one.

Note: I was with Kytt until he went out of his way to destroy a perfectly good cd.

I saw the trailer.... they way they presented it was pretty cheesy.

Basically its a cool horror movie with plenty of blood, guts and alien parts.

I wouldn't be looking too deep for a story here, just pure violence with a bit of horror/suspense.

Seems like no one's going to give this movie a green light. Eh, I didn't think anyone would.

I didn't get to watch the trailor, but I'm sure it confirms that the movie is going to be all hype with no real storyline to give it the benefit of a doubt. I was just kind of hoping that hollywood had learned its lesson from previous movies. But then, I also forgot how hardheaded hollywood really is.

*shrugs*

Whatever. I'll still give it the small benefit of a doubt. Mostly because I want a legitimate reason to waste my money on seeing it once it's released.

I finally got to see the preview for AVP when I went in to watch Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (really didn't like this movie, btw).

I have to say that I think it's going to be far better than FvJ (which was nothing but absolute, crack-induced hype). Actually, it all kind of reminded me of Matt Reilly's novels (anyone ever read any of his books? Good for the action-loving soul).

You guys are right about the movie being completely based on an unoriginal plot stripped from a game/comic, but at least they aren't using a bunch of acid addicted teenagers or random, off-the-wall people that do almost nothing to further the story along except to add in some "emotional suspence".

Maybe it won't have the most clever storyline to follow, but I think this movie will make up for what it lacks by adding spice to a classic idea.

That, and I just happen to be a fan of movies that involve people struggling against monsters carnal in nature. Action, action, action.

Ya, I actually watched this in the theaters... it was pretty lame... Same stuff you would expect from the Alien series. Can't say I was expecting for the story line to be bad ass... but at least the action was pretty cool. I liked how the Preditor just jumed out of no where and stuck that Alien queen right in its acid filled head XD

btw im a hardcore fan of AVP, i played the genesis version, read the batman v aliens comic, read a small portion of the avp comic, played the 2 pc games of avp....i thought they all rocked!!!!!

for it to come out in as a movie, i will dig it!

anyway, there is my 2 cents.

blahhhh, this movie gets a 2/10.
ppl in the theater actually started laughing when the predator and the chick were running together. my coworker (also read the comic and is a fanboy) said he really thought they were gonna kiss when the predator took off his helmet.
some of the effects were cool and the imagery of the pyramid, but it was awful in general. Razz

coworker said he heard the avp concept was spawned in predator 2. supposedly somewhere in the predator ship there were images of predators and aliens fighting and then they decided to do a story around it.
anyone know if its true?
