| Yeah, I think Norton is the best on your list, I've had bad experiences with McAfee though |

Did you update your virus definition file weekly?? If not, then that explains the 250 virus there and one thing: Not all virus can be cleaned using the antivirus software. Some need to use special way of cleaning. Most only need the fixing tool of the virus. The fixing tools can be found in Norton website.

Yeah, Norton is one of the most popular ones due to its user-friendliness and more comprehensive GUIs than McAfee, but same thing as browsers, different antivirus have different pros and cons, which need to be researched for the best antivirus software for your computer. So there are not really 'best' one. It is more of 'the most comfortable' one. _________________

Yes....AVG's kinda good too...when Norton wasn't able to delete one of the Viruses in my PC...AVG did it. And AVG's free also...which is gonna be my backup anti-virus program when my SBC anti-virus expires. _________________

Do you mean firewall or antivirus ?
For firewall, the so-called best one out there is Zone Alarm but it is quite unstable. There are several problems such as memory leak and vsmon which is quite serious when using p2p sharing program (Bittorrent). CPU usage is often full and the RAM usage is pretty high. Besides that, the vsmon.exe crashes often (for me it crashes every 7 hours and display a message asking you to reboot). ZA Lab team gives a temporary solution - disable auto update, turn off antivirus monitor etc but all that doesn't work for me.
It has other problems, too many to list out so check the user forum if you are interested. I got fed up with ZA and switched to Agnitum Outpost since it doesn't use as much RAM and CPU usage as ZA. Even so, the protection level is quite high and i love it.
Just click proceed and click the buttons such as common ports, all service ports to run the tests. For me, Zone Alarm failed one test but Outpost got perfect score. You will have to configure Outpost to work properly and it does involve a lot of technical stuff but to me, it's way better than Zone Alarm crashing every 7 hours.
For antivirus, i used to have avast! but switched to Nod32 which received the most award in Virus Bulletin. I won't say avast! is bad but it does consume more memory and CPU usage is higher. Nod32 is known to be the antivirus which uses the least cpu usage and memory but offers a good protection against viruses, worms etc.

| Well, I don't like security suites. Since Service Pack 2 for Windows XP they became obsolete anyways. Just use the Internal Firewall and AntiVir. Both for free and they get the job done. If you configure them properly... |

PC-Cillin worked for me but I rely on Ad-Aware right now. _________________ Gaze into the stars, reach for the heavens, with the wind blowing beneath you, and the Sun behind your back, you can become one with destiny.
