Wow.... It would be great if he put that kind of creativity into something less lethal... I don't see the point in making one, but I am sure if I say "why" someone out there will say why not? Anyways people never ceases to amaze me when it comes to home made weaponry. _________________ Need help adding an image to your signature? Click here then. |

well, I can make a flame thrower out of an aerosol can. As far as building weapons goes the only thing less complicated is probably a spear. I wouldn't because I don't want to die from 1st degree burns: plastic melts, numb nuts. Ok it's fun, and he doesn't care about the danger to himself (apparently), but is it really wise to use it in your front garden? Especially when it launches flames some 15-20 feet. I might be having a chuckle if it was out in a field somewhere where only he gets hurt if the whole thing goes up in flames, but in a residential area, with children playing hide and seek behind the bushes and cats climbing up the trees? Come on, grow up quickly please before you kill someone. _________________ David |

Um, he doesn't have to worry about the plastic melting gen... the whole thing is setup on tire pressure stop valves so there's no chance that the flame can back up into the gun. So all of the ignition happens once the stream has come out of the thing. _________________ You can't hold no groove if you ain't got no pocket. |

yeah, but they're made of plastic aren't they? Surely they're not designed to handle intensive heat. Besides which, it doesn't change the fact that he's being incredibly irresponsible. Supposing the elastic band goes on the trigger mechanism, or he misjudges the reach of the flames, or he doesn't notice next door's kids using him in a game of "Spy on the Weirdo?" Supposing something even simpler than that: his mum comes outside demanding to know what he's up to and he turns around to face her?
Fair enough if he was out in a field somewhere, away from civilisation. Although, if I were him, I'd still not be making it out of plastic and be making sure that there was a lake near by for me to jump into if anything goes tits up. In fact, I might jump in the lake first, just to give myself a fighthing chance. In fact, I might just not bother in the first place. It's not like you can do much with it anyway. What're you going to do? Point it at imaginary vietcong and pretend you're Chuck Norris? Wow, that'll be fun for all of 1 minute. _________________ David |

The way he designed it is probably much safer than any aersol can
I've played with home made flamers when I was a little kid.. you know.. something like hairspray and a lighter...
You tend to singe your fingers and melt the plastic. There's about 6 feet of hose between the noozle and tank with no oxygen in the tubing so the fire won't burn backwards. The gun looks like its made out of steel in the tip so you don't worry about heat.
The thing I would more afraid of is his backpack tank exploding. _________________

That guy is happy he was able to make a flame thrower out of parts and PVC. I hope the PVC is not anywhere near the hot parts. Eitherway the only problem he will come across in the future is an exploding back pack, as Kaiser said.
If you get across a homemade water cannon with max "fire power" I might get interested. We can put out that guys' flame thrower.
And I believe you have to have a liscence to handle sucha dangerous equipment homemade or not. |

i wil be making a few trips to home depot in the future. And hes pretty lucky. Some of my neighbors if they saw me with something like that i would have cops up my ass so fast i would be.... in trouble. I myself wouldnt consider using pvc pipe for a tank. Id prolly use a something else. other than that i can only congradulate the guy for his effort heh. _________________ "Let them hate, so long as they fear" |

Being in possession of something like that is probably illegal . . . at least without the proper papers/permits, anyway. Freedom of speech and information makes it possible to post/publish how to make stuff like that and with what materials, but actually making it is probably legally out of the question.
*shrugs* But then again, laws can be funny. Or the lack thereof. |
