every hardcore gamer i know (including me) are loners. is it a curse... why cant we fit in?? can you? does the world tend to look down on us because we spend most of our time playing video games? for me, its just another art of escaping reality..kinda like music. i wonder what you think?....and i'm talking about hardcore gamers not casual gamers.

No one has to take shit from someone who has a speech pattern of Yoda. I don't see it too different from reading all the time. There are a benefits; and I remember on Daily Planet where they discussed how video gamers are better suited for doing mircosurgery, like multiple times better than anyone else; but the doctor who did the study was only playing super monkey balls, which I like, but I rather my doctor play some GTA, just to relief some stress as well.

hmm...I spend more than 28 hours a week playing WoW (but I take a break and play CS), but I'm still able to have a comfortable social life. I mean, basically all you have to do is talk to people. Self confidence? Something like that. Sometimes all you have to do is go to a party and just meet more and more people.

Sometimes taking a break from playing video games to play sports can be an easy way to meet new people. After I started to play tennis (I only play about 2 hours a week), I've tons of new people. Like I said it's all about self confidence.

If you think you're a loner, then you can't help, but be one. If you think you can go out and meet new people to escape from being a loner, then you can. It's all about self confidence and a change of perspective.

i think that people play games for the enjoyment and possibly to have something to brag about but alas, the society today dont seem to care about the gamers (shunned from society) and thus they are alone in the rooms, playing games

hmmm...loners....hmmmm....well, i guess it depends. if they meet people who too like video games and befriends them then they wouldnt be called loners cuz they're not alone. but if they just lock themselves inside a room and never come out then yea, they would be called loners.

i don't think many hardcore games work hard enough to become doctors... maybe if they start after they become one (if they're still young at heart). even if they can do microsurgery, does that mean they're not loners?

maybe people who's lives revolve around gaming are just boring to other people. most of them don't get much practice talking to others or any real-life experiences (and real life doesn't work out as peachy as dating sims :w). i'd find it odd if a hardcore gamer WAS popular with non-gamers, unless they were really good looking or talented in some way.

People who just plays and plays all day without even thinking of other activities are just plain stupid!!

Hey, I am a hardcore gamers a few years back (played between 50-70 hours per week on PS2, PC and GBA), but that does not stopped from going outside and make friends. People with only games, games, and games in their mind are usually a boring guy who can only talk about nothin except games.

If all or most of your friends are from the internet or an NPC in a video game, you are indeed a loner.

Nah, I have more real friends than internet friends. I even still contacted some people from my primary school and some are not in Singapore. Some is in Australia, US, Canada and one in UK. Some also in my homeland: Indonesia Laughing Laughing Laughing

Not really but then again Im not really a hardcare gamer so I can't say, it depends on what kind of person you are. Draging everyone over a line is just stupid since it most likely never 100% true, sure there are some gamers that are loners but then again there are gamers who aren't loners.
