FF7. Definitively. And it doesn't only have the best storyline, it's also the best overall FF game, even with the crappy original graphics. But now it's coming out on PS3, so that won't even be a problem anymore.

An OVA, two remastered games (one for PS1, one for PS3), a sequel movie, a cellphone game, a sequel game (Dirge of Cerberus, staring Vincent Valentine). What more proof do you need?

I greatly disliked FF7. Reminded me to much of an overdone Sci-Fi Channel exclusive movie. The main characters all really annoyed me too.

FF8 is my favorite of any of the Final Fantasy games.

i cant really choose, but if i have to choose. I'll pick both ff7 and ff9. cant decide which of the 2 i like best.

My personal favorite is FFVIII, with VII closely behind it. VII was the first game I actually stayed up all night and couldn't sleep for a couple of hours after playing (due to the final Sephiroth battle, even though I lost Razz

), but I still liked VIII better, because I actually like the Junction system; it just seems, I don'tt know, a bit more natural/organic than マテリア. Also, I liked the Sphere Grid from X, because they could learn each others' techs.

For the story line VII, with VI a close second, but for gameplay I like FF-X best. 8 falls somewhere between the 6 and FF-X

I agree with those that say that FF7 has the best storyline, there is just no comparision. It is not to say that I didn't enjoy the others, FF7 was just simply the best (even though the graphics of the gameplay were crap, compared to the later ones).
