the matrix vs. ghost in the shell

Ghost in the Shell has probably just as much man/machine philosophy if not more than the matrix (it's been out longer too). Matrix draws a lot of its concepts from Ghost in the Shell and other anime. If you're talking about what deserves the most merit for originality and concept, I'd have to pick the one that comes before the other. Ghost in the Shell.

I think Matrix is better because of how much more philosophical it was compared to Ghost in the Shell. It asks questions that dealt with how we live our lives compare to that of just what the meaning of life is.

ghost in the shell, definitely. the matrix overdoes it, while gits keeps everything believeable, and that's what matters to me.

i like the matrix, because i think ghost in the shell is kind of boring.

GitS Definitly.
The characters were better, the concepts more original, and it just had a really exciting and intriguing story line. The Matrix's problem is that it set up this really cool cyber-punk feel in the beginning, but it turned out to be something else entirely in the second.
Also The Matrix fanbase ruined it massivly for me. I think that's probably my biggest quarrel with the movies.

The only matrix movie I still like to watch is the first one.

I would have to say with SAC, the manga, and both movies, GitS is better than the Matrix...
