the matrix vs. ghost in the shell

i want to know what u guys/girls (i'm no sexist) think. which is better, the matrix or ghost in the shell. every1 i show it to says "that is such a f**kin' rip on the matrix!!" this really pisses me off coz it's the other way round. plees enlighten me. i wanna know!!!

The Matrix did rip off the opening scene of the first GitS movie, and also used the concept of plugging in through the back of the neck, but Philip K Dick also had the idea of plugging into a program, so neither series is completely original, but it is the Matrix which got sued and generally bombed as the movies went along. I don't think that GitS went beyond what was believable. Sure, they had fancy quotes in the second movie, but even I had heard most of them and I don't live in a society with brain implants.

i don't know wat to do!!! i'm torn between two things that i really don't like!.l.ol. o ok ummm matrix...plus side is ummm the action. no duh.....and their whole idea of the matrix was very unique and creative. ghost in the shell.......well it's anime..that in itself is a plus............has some action....hmmmmmmm hmmmmmmmmmmm.....watever i'm just voting for ghost in the shell!

I voted for The Matrix. Not because I don't like GitS nor because I don't agree with the fact that the two movies have many concepts in common. I don't know whether the creators of The Matrix did get some inspiration from GitS. I'm just comparing two movies. The Matrix is a live action movie, whereas GitS is an anime movie, the style, pace , and feel are different. Although I like both, if I have to choose one, I pick The Matrix. Like kaykay said, they are two entirely different genres. It's like comparing apples to oranges.

I don't see the connection but ghost in the shell manga is 15 years old now I think. and movie was done in 1995, Matrix was 1999. Matrix is rip off of a lot thingx that is one reason it sucks. Mainly hong Kong cinima

I had to place my vote with Ghost in the Shell... my reasons may not come from just small ortions of my opinion, but also from observing the amount of work put into each of the movies. Allot of CG went into the Matrix, making it very tech friendly. But the artwork put into Ghost in the Shell, was all done mostly by hand. Plus the story-line itself was much more a thinker story. So, my vote belongs to Ghost in the Shell. I really hope that didn't confuse anyone.

Im gunna be very simple the matrix was only good in the action department. the story was ok at first then they just got into a fanasty world. Gits seemed to start out fantastical but then it pushed twards realism extensivly. So i choose GIts because they mad me belive that its world could one day be possible.

Matrix only rips off GITS in visual style. It's a shame because where the matrix should have ripped off GITS is in the story, because that's where it's weak.
