GSD basically ended the gundam seed series. ONly way they could possible make an entertaining and attractive anime for GS3 would be a future with new characters, and somehow bring in the old gundams later in the series. Any more Kira, Arthrun and Shinn (no matter how cool they were) would be too hackneyed.

I totally agree that GSD was pretty much a complete failure... Of course it did have its moments, and they did manage to save a little face with 51plus... The original ending left me banging my head on the wall... esp the part where mwu almost gets blown up again... There's still a shitload of questions that are still left unanswered even from the original series, and I still feel that the characters were really poorly developed in this series.

In my mind, a SEED spinoff is doomed to failure and I feel that a third sequel is going to have a hard time overcoming the weaknesses of its predecessor. I swear to god, if they just find another excuse to start another war between Zaft and Earth and make that SEED3, I might just kill myself... Which is exactly the way I felt with GSD. But then again, it's difficult to come up with a good story line for a series where the most obvious form of conflict will errupt for the militaries of both factions... I really hope for the sake of the future of SEED that they are able to pull off a miracle storyline for Eternity... But I am not keeping my hopes up... Honestly, is there really anything else they can do with the series???

I think a nice way to really wrap the series up would be to have a feature length film and have a threat both external to Zaft and Earth come up and the whole cast having to deal with it... A few more character deaths in this movie would go a long way in stirring a huge emotional impact in the fans... I think this would be a good way to let go of the francise... in a big bang... If Eternity ends up being another mediocre animation recap run that Destiny ended up being... Crying or Very sad

Either way, I am still in anticipation for the new series. Hopefully not being able to air in 2006 will give them time to really polish out a wicked series for us. Lets all cross out fingers...

Actually that happened in episode 49... it is still part of the storyline, since ep 49 wasn't changed.

Anyway, I don't thik that a SEED sequel/spinoff is doomed to failure by default. The end of SEED destiny was terrible, yes, but if you asked people around episode 35 if they liked the series they would have probably answered "yes" instead of a half-hearted "kinda" that you would get by the end. my point is that a third good Seed CAN be done. Destiny was good until some point too. They have a chance if they reduce the number of recaps, re-used footage, stick with their characters and don't try to rip the original SEED off like Destiny did. if it at least tries to be original it would be something to look forward to, at least so we can be able to say "they tried".

I wouldn't want to see ZAFT vs EA again, like "don't they (ZAFT/EA) get tired of war already?" But there's no big third faction in the SEED world ya? So no chance for another big war which is essential in any Gundam series Very Happy .

I've got an idea. Crazy as it seems...GS 3 should start with political turmoil between PLANT and Earth to the point that both sides are at the edge of war again before an invading alien race sets upon the Solar system forces them to join forces to defeat the new enemy. But that would be totally out of the Gundam series nature though i think it's about time some evolution was made to a decades old series. No Gundam series ever had aliens ya?

Then again, this would mean Kira and Athrun would be the main char again, given their powers as pilots of the most powerful Gundams to date. Something which im sure many fans are already getting tired of, though others would like to see more of them. That's fine with me, perhaps they can even be 'tutors' to Shinn and help him grow out of his miserable character that he is now. It also opens up the chance for Cagalli to mature and shine this time and a great debut for Lacus as one of PLANT's leading authorities. It is in times of desperation that characters really shine. And we'd get to see great battles for at least 2/3 of the series too given the threat! This time no more Super Gundam culling everything but more tactics against a superior enemy.

Given how too much can be bad (personally i think Mwu should stay DEAD. He had a good death. But he's the man who makes the impossible..possible heheh) perhaps here Kira can sacrifice himself to get an advantage for the combined earth forces in the final battle and seal his name as a legend in the Gundam series along with the already legendary Freedom Very Happy ! Even the name Freedom rymes with freedom of Earth Very Happy !

I've read on a gundam fansite concerning a theory that Kira will become the new Raww like Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars. I definitely wouldn't want that!

I wouldnt really mind a new series, cause im kind of a hardcore gumdam fan. A new series with new charactors and new gundams would be nice, and I wouldnt really mind some old charactors appearing again, except this time they ought to have smaller and less important roles in the series.

I have this crazy idea of the new series happening perhaps 20 years after GSD and the new main charactors being the offsprings of the old ones. I guess this sounds a bit lame. Laughing

Let me tell ya something... I am a big Gundam fan and fan of many Mecha Serious.... but Gundam is a dying series cause they can't think up better ways of creating it.... I really liked Gundam MS Team cause it was original... but everything else is just lame.

I think Gundam SEED and Destiny is quite enought .
They should make a new kind of gundam instead of recycling animes over and over again . New gundams / new heros / new characters / new story and new plots . enought is enought : P of KIRA

Either way... Seed 3 is going to be made... Like most people I'm "saying" that I don't have high hopes for the new series, but I'm sure deep inside we are all hoping for Seed 3 to be the best of them all. I really didn't like Destiny for a lot of reasons, Seed for some reason had a very adventurous feel to it. I loved the concept of how Kira is just living his normal life in a Colony where the ties to his history as a coordinator are basically ignored, and in 1 day he and his friends are pulled into a world from which they were blinded from and are forced to engage in a war that would have complications for the entire human race. I loved how we as an audience would be taken from phase to phase making new discoveries about plant, the coordinators, the seed, new gundams, moving from space to the ocean, the desert etc. It was really a fun romp with the crew. But for Destiny, now that they had this baseline of all the things we learned in Seed set, they needed a really good story line and an overall plot revelation that would entice us as viewers... But I have to say they really fell apart on which direction they should take the series and it came off as really mediocre... I've watched SEED 3 times all together, Destiny definately won't be looked over again by me...

PS.
Did anybody else find it kind of cheasy that Mia was killed off, and the spin she did as she fell?

Cheesy as hell. "Oh, twirl in death". Pfff...

I liked the original SEED a lot. Destiny at first, but by the end it had degenerated into a mockery of itself and the first SEED. A thrird one could be easily better than Destiny. Even if it isn't better than SEED I'd just be happy with it being better than Destiny. As long as it doesn't make me think "there used to be stuff here" I guess I'm ok with it.

A couple of things that would be a staple in the new series would be :
1) An OP by TM revolution.
2) A character voiced by TM Revolution gets cut down by/because of Kira in front of Athrun. (Like Miguel and Heine, both were voiced by him and died like that).

If a new serie is going to be released from Gundam Seed Destiny, I don't want to ever see the character Shun because he's really an idiot and a show-off. Also I wish that there won't be so many flashbacks so we could enjoy more battles between mobile suits. I hope there would be some more upgrades to the mobile suits Freedom and Justice because they're so cool and don't need to recharge their energies level.
Finally I wonder if they could make mobile suits that can combine in order to form a more powerful mobile suit.
