Ah~ I've read Lovely bones...a very saddening story. Meh, well I am reading The harsh cry of the Heron by Lian hearn and waiting for the prequel Heavens net is wide....
Apparentl they are making a movie of Across the nightingale floor _________________ "My honesty hurts, more than the lies you told me,
But sometimes only liars can be kind."
This is what you told me as you closed your eyes.
The simple sadness of losing you is overwhelming,
But I'm waiting for you, in a world without you. |

The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells
One of my favorite all time sci-fi story. I've read this over and over for many years and never has it lost its magic. A tale of survival when the Martians invade the Earth at the turn of the century. But its not a simple black and white. It is noted in the beginning that the Martians were no evil as Human Beings who have wiped out countless of species and killed many of our own kind.
This story is easily reflected upon many things like the British society in the end of the 1800s to our modern time. There is no black and white. The main nameless narrator is no hero, just a simple man trying to survive the horrors.
I recommand this book to everyone. Its good reading.
Currently reading Heart Of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. _________________

ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT, by E.M. Remarque
One of the very few novel that captures the tragedy of war, especially the Great War of 1914.
The best war novel I've ever read. One of the few about WW1 (which is almost non-existence nowadays). This has touched me deeply as the novel is about a young generation of German boys fighting in the Trenches against the so-called enemy who were no different then them. Many questions are raised and the horror of war is exposed. With new machinery and weaponry, individual lives are not a matter to fuse over when lost.
I strongly recommend this to EVERYONE. _________________

Currently I am reading The Prince by Machiaveli....
A text for my politics class that is a comprehensive manual for Princes to be able to gain power and maintain it....
Its a very controversial book, but at the same time its something that everyone should read as it pertains to the current situations and gives some great insight into the sturcture and matenence of power. |

The Complete Book of Swords. By Fred Saberhagen.
Thoughts: I'm only little more than a fourth of the way through, but I'm recommending this book to everybody that wants a book that can give vivid descriptions of places, people, and things. I would say it more so to those that like the adventure, fantasy, and sci-fi genres. Especially if you like having plot twists, and surprises hit you out of nowhere.
It's a great book; has many things going on, often switching places every chapter, and makes you go back to check what you just read sometimes. |
