Well, that's the human nature, as expected... Most of people tends to try to find a easy way to escape the reality, and what useually come across their mind is suicide, whether they see it on TV, or heard of it...
I think it has to do with more than human nature, if you say it's instinct, I disagree, cause humans basic instinct is to survive not to die, they will protect their own or their own kind.
But since Humans can think for themselves this basic instinct has been(how should I say this) oppressed.
The mind of humans has a will on its own, it's being influenced by it surroundings, for example:
Japanese people see suicide as an honor(correct me if I'm wrong), if they made a big mistake, their most honorable thing to do is to commit suicide.
During WOII Japanese Kamikaze pilots consider it is an honor to be one.
But suicide and Kamikaze are 2 diffrent things
I saw a documentary on National Geographic, that when the Americans were conquering the Island to get near Japan, that the remaining Japanese civilians commit suicide, they jumped of cliffs, so that they don't fall into the enemy hands, they rather die than surrender
Palestinians commit suicide bombings, because their religion tells them they will go to heaven and have 34 virgins to be his slaves, they will have honey, nectar on silver plates (this is what my teacher of religion told me) if they died in the Djihad(= religious war against those who don't believe in Allah).
I mean if you believe that, you would just kill yourself just to be with those virgins , but then again those suicide bombers are extremists or people who don't have anything to lose, and terrorists wispher this tale about heaven and virgins in their head, so you can guess why their final descision is.
Western people commit suicide, cause they can't think straight or there is no one to help/guide/support them, and without thinking twice they commit suicide just to end their problem or get rid of it.
Or when they suffer from an uncurable dissease.
I'm not a religious person nor a Christian, but I admire Johannes Paulus II, he had parkinson and he didn't quite as pope, he kept fighting till the last moment, so I admire his courage, cause I sure know it must have been hell.
My teacher of religion told me that the council of the Vatican didn't allow JP II to step down as pope, they wanted him to die as a martyr, like Jesus.
I don't know if that's true.
And just yesterday my teacher of religion told me that in Flandern( Dutch speaking part of Belgium), that everyday the youth commit 3 succesfull suicides, I mean that's a hell lotta people for one day!
My country belongs to the top of the rankings in Europe and the world, but the people here are for the majority depressed.
My opinion is that suicide is the stupidiest thing to do, my mom told me that life is precious, she has fought very hard to give me life and to keep me alive till today as a healthy boy (haha kinda laugh when I think back when she said this), I can't repay what she has done for me in this life, she really has done everything she could so I could have a future, my only way to thank her or return a small favor is to complete my graduation on university adn be a good person that do good things for the people.
And suicide is the last thing on my mind, cause it will make my mom heartbroken, I don't want to repay her like that.
So what problems I may face, I won't commit suicide, I will stand my ground and face them head on.

Of course majority here tink about suicide!! These guys are people who would commit seppuku if they hear that ichigo 100% has ended completely.

Yeah it's true... but since there are so many depressed people in our country, the line might be overloaded, and those people have no choice but to "hang up"

i had planned to commit suicide. i will tell you that. i sat on the throne and was about to cut my wrists. To this day I am not sure what stopped me. oh I have a few ideas, but those come later. i look back, and Now I think what most people think. Suicide is the cowards exit. Its the easy way out of the troubles of this world. I remember those days as the worst ever. Waking up and wondering why, sleeping hoping you would die, waking again to the same old crap you left 8 hours ago. I know exactly how that feels. Sure the world sucks. I still think it sucks actually. Its just that now I can see past all the grime and see the diamond beneath it. There is good in the world. its sounds so sappy though, but is true. so yeah, i mean this when i say it, if anyone is thinking about it, please talk to me. i have talked several of my friends out if it, and I can help you. please. _________________ Miku Miku!!
