Well... I guess that can "pass" on a technicallity: He said that Yoda "instructed" him. In a loose sense he did receive instructions from Yoda, although he wasn't actually trained by him. It is kind of a sucky technicallity, but I guess it works... "from a certain point of view" _________________

Why is nobody mentioning the Star Wars comics coming out on Dark Horse for around 10 years now?!
Anyway they add depth to the movies and are of very good qulity, series like Republic (witch ended this month), Empire, Tales of the Jedi, X-wing: Rogue Squadron and SW Tales are my favorite works in the Star Wars universe.
Anyway if you're interested in the comics i suggest you try Republic or Empire first, or even better the new KOTOR series that just started last month (only 1 issue out so far).
Highly recommended. |

Umm.. I haven brought that up because I don't own many of them. All I have are the Crimson empire series (which is so-so) and the Shadow of the empire stuff.
I heard that the Rogue squadron stuff is actually quite good, but that they don't really tie all that much to the books. Is that true? _________________

No idea because i've never read the books. Most of the comics tie in nicely to the movies, some characters from the comics are even referenced in Episode III.
Also Aayla Secura is a character that was created in the comics but met her end in the movie, and the KOTOR games are based on Tales of the Jedi series. |

Before I get all excited, you don't mean one of those cheap, plastic ones, do you? _________________

You havent seen the Force FX Lightsabers? Yeah they are plastic but its as close as you are going to get! Plus its really really really thick plastic. So thick that you would have to really try to break it to actually do it. They are HUGE (a good 5 feet), has a metal handle, and when you turn the thing on IT MAKES THAT LIGHTSABER TURNY ON NOISE!!!! Plus it has a motion detector and it makes that lightsaber swinging sound when you move it. AND when you hit something it makes the lightsaber noise when they have a duel in the movies. Its freakin amazing. I bought one for my brother for christmas, and he loved it.
He is the one who told me that they were releasing a Darth Maul lightsaber like the Force FX ones, but it was actually a dual lightsaber like his. He said you could even take it apart like when Obi Won cuts it in half in Episode one. AWESOME. If I could remember the website I could show it too you.... something replicas, damn I dont remember now. Ill ask him again one of these days. _________________ Miku Miku!!

Wow, I'm so envious of your brother, True. Even my friend has gotten to see one up close and personal at Sharper Image (going shopping and seeing that without me, damn him!).
Anyways, I googled for the Force FX Lightsabers, and I must say, it really is something I'd drool over..
Here's the link I look at:

i think they are selling the darth vader ones at a rogers video store near us.. somehow it didn't click to well here though its nice... i don' thave funds to buy it though... and can't do anything else with it other than display...
i had EP IV, V, VI on betamax... hahaha so its hellishly old... then i bought the DVDs of them remastered.. interesting add ons... but nothing much to go on there... after all of the episodes from I to VI were out i watched them chronologically in one night... somehow it ruined it for me... like there were too many things left out and only the intro text would mention of the details that have befallen this galaxy far far away... so yeah.. i was disappointed somewhat...
i haven't read any of the books... i want to though.. but its kinda hard to know which ones are lucas approved... i know there is a lot out there.. and some of them are contradicting the movie so i want to avoid those...
do you think in the distant future they are gonna make another starwars??? of course lucas might be dead or dying then but whatever... new jedi order might be a good thing to make to a movie.. sorta... if they were really good by then... _________________

You know, I could just about say the same thing, except the 'old' Trilogy is in the sucking position. Maybe you can enlighten me? _________________

Actually I think Lucas personally approved the entire "new Jedi order" series. Also all the novels released were appropiately licenced by Lucasfilm, so the content doesn't contradict the movies or other novels. They are all supposed to be part of a single coherent universe. _________________
