Creative Zen here, I like it but... the OS for it really sucks. It has crashed several times for me. (So I take the battery out)
Apple Ipod Mini gets pretty bad too, memory locks, battery damage and wrecked touch pads within a year and like all Apple item it has no DO IT YOURSELF procedures
Only reliable buy for good music would be...
$99.99+Tax or 129+Tax
IPOD Shuffle-512 MBs or 1 GB of Good Storage and its really small
$225+Tax or 200+Tax
Creative Zen-1GB or 5 GB of High Quality Storage, but must be handled with care and you gonna know how to fix it (its not that hard)
$90-300+Tax
MiniDisk Player-1 GB Diskettes
$10-50+Tax
CD PLAYER-700MB Disks
Do not touch BIG IPOD unless you got a lot of cash and a lot of music.
20GB $299 or 60GB $399
IPOD-God this thing is like a hard drive in the pocket. |

yea, I kinda second this, as my friend had to replace the battery of his iPod 4 times in a row, and this is before I got an mp3 player. Needless to say, this turned me off apple, as well as the fact that u can't replace the battery urself like u do w/ a mobile phone, and that I find the sound quality to be lower than my samsung, sony or the creatives.
Besides, what's so good about the iPod anyway? Plz don't say looks, cuz I basically keep my mp3 hidden, therefore I don't really care what it looks like. |

i bought Creative MuVo Micro N200 (512mb). i was thinking about getting a shuffle but i don't like the idea of me paying 30 bucks for apple's service just to replace the itsy bitty almost universal looking battery. i heard a lot of bad stuff about ipod-ish products so i'm sticking with this one. it was the best one i could find for its price at that time.
i don't really care about having the need for a usb cable to connect to a computer since i don't really need to carry the cable around with me all the time. i leave the cable in my backpack since this mp3 player is really helpful storing my photoshop files and homework and buncha other stuff. it even saved my butt when i ran out of memory for the digi cam xD. if i were to buy an mp3 player again in the future, i'll try to get another flash-memory based mp3 (looking forward for one that could play a better codec than mp3) player since i do a lot of running or jumping around. hard drive based has higher risk of breaking. i've also dropped this player a buncha times and it's a miracle that it still works T_T |

wat do u mean, exactly? If u mean different file types such as WMA, OGG, etc., then get a Samsung Yepp 1gb mp3 player. Review is here:http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1785 |

nice, granzon. thanx, i might get that or a better model of that in the future. but this mp3 player is still kicking well and i don't have a really good reason to ditch it yet (thinking about giving it to my brother xD. but i'll wait till better and i'm pretty sure that there'll be better and improved versions of the one you gave me comes out. and cheapt too xD).
sorry if the codecs part was confusing. i thought there'll be a player that'll mainly play ogg files since having to play both mp3 and ogg will require bigger chips size and more processing power. and call it ogg player instead of mp3 player, but it looks like it won't be that way since it won't be good for marketing apparently. ah, maybe i'm just making it more confusing so i'll shut up =x
i do hope, though, that there'll be mp3 players that'll suppoprt lossless codecs. 4gigs of flash-based memory will be good enough for me. |

| thugangel: happy 2 help. anyway, I was fortunate to get mine for less than $170 cuz it was on sale, so I'm happy. It really is a good little player, and is really easy to travel with cuz u need batteries to power it, and don't necessarily need 2 spend ages looking for an outlet converter cuz u need 2 charge urs. |
