I'm just wondering if anyone here goes to a catholic school, because I do-but that doesn't mean I'm a catholic
If ya do, tell me what it's like( I'm curious if all catholic schools are the same)
I have to wear uniforms, go to mass, eat fish every friday, pray the rosary, etc. _________________ [img:400:224:9a48d672c1]http://comalies.free.fr/images/ergoproxy.jpg[/img:9a48d672c1]

Yep. We got lots of rules an' it took me a while to get used to them all. We even have a nun teacher and she freaks at my class if one person moves a centimeter while she's talking _________________ [img:400:224:9a48d672c1]http://comalies.free.fr/images/ergoproxy.jpg[/img:9a48d672c1]

Wow your catholic school sounds really strict. I also went to Catholic School(Father Lacombe in Calgary) and it wasn't very strict at all. We had to go for a mass every once in a while in the main gym... and we had mandatory religion class... but we didn't need to say the rosary... or eat fish every friday :O... hell even during lent they served meat in the cafeteria I'm pretty sure. Also there wasn't any uniforms so whew I'm glad my catholic school wasn't so tough hehe, _________________ Urgo... living in Vancouver now go Calgary Flames! |

I think the thing I hate most in the uniform We have to wear white or green collared shirts which are SWELTERING hot in the summer, and pants that are blue with red and green stripes on them( these are for the girls- the boys just have to wear plain blue pants) We have to wear black shoes and above-ankle socks. No jewelry is allowed, except for small earrings and necklaces with crosses on them. On Friday, we have to wear a blouse and the girls have to wear silly skirts that look like folded napkins We have to always have our shirts tucked in, which makes our pants get baggy, so we all look like stuffed peppers, even if we're stick-thin. Everywhere I go in my uniform people stare at me, even at the grocery store. _________________ [img:400:224:9a48d672c1]http://comalies.free.fr/images/ergoproxy.jpg[/img:9a48d672c1]

No, I did not go to Catholic school, but I did go to Christian school during my primary education. Yeah, we have masses, mandatory religion lessons, and also praying first before starting first lesson in the morning.
But, eating fish everyday??? I never got that experience before. I think the culture is different for each schools. I have friends here that goes to Catholic school, but never experienced one like that before.
My primary school's uniform is plain light blue top with dark blue pants. That set of uniform must be worn only from Mondays to Thursdays. There is one more uniform with white top and red pants. This one was worn only on Fridays, but the irritating is, we have to wear a tie too on Fridays, which sometimes annoying. My school is already quite hot and we have to wear a tie. The heat sometimes could become unbearable. _________________

| I went to a Christian art school before, where we learned how to draw and stuff, but the session only lasted an hour. After finishing I had to attend the youth group where we had to do Christian events for 2 hours. |

im my catholic school our uniforems are
Boys - light blue button shirt, dark blue blazer, dark blue tie, grey pants and black leather shoes ( if it is not leather, it is not allowed ).
Girls - Blue and Grey plaid skirts, light blue shirt and black shoes.
As for rules its strict but no one cares and ppl just find ways to get around it. we had a "hands off policy" put into place after fights in school started to increase, every one just started kneeing and elbowing each other after it was out into place, eventually the school changed the name of the policy to "no physical contact" unless it was something like a handshake or something of that matter. |

lol i know! but i know most of the comments we say is just bcoz public schools think private schools are snobs and stuck ups, and private think of public as trailer trash or something. coz non of them are true, just are stereotype thing. _________________ "Look at me, with my pretty bracelet and tiara... I finished catholic school.
But it wasn't strict at all...not in the way your school is.
hm, private schools are snobs...mine isn't really a private school. anyone can attend. and some private schoolgirls are snobs...have met some on EYP. and well they were so stuck up...you should've seen them... but not all of them are...and not all ppl of public schools are trash.
back to catholic school
In our school you got to go to the mass with the beginning of the schoolyear, after exams. hm, don't really know other times...and mostly it's just not a real mass but just something to think things through. they weren't that bad. it depended on who had organised it...
uniforms...glad we didn't have to wear any we could wear what we want. well if it was overboard they say it to you. last year they gave us a little paper with few rulez...not that anyone followed them or any teacher cared...
hm, the dinner...it's like not really strict...never ate warm food at my school (well only french frites^^) so don't really know if they had to eat fish, but i don't htink they had to do it each friday...
hm, your school seems really strict :p
what the teachers (nuns or priest) well, I had last year a priest...he didn't let any room open for discussion or so...it was boring (and that guy smelled! think he didn't see a bath in years...)
now back to what i wanted to tell. Last year we had a trip with school to Prague. and each day we ate in a different restaurant..(noon and evening yummie) but one evening we ate in a striptent...
we had like screens where girls were stripping...it ruined the food for me...
so not every catholic school is the same. and not every (catholic) teacher thinks the same...
you just got unluck to have such a strict school. |
