| Well I live in Toronto as well, but I don't go to Niagara falls just to get some alcohol. The last time I got alcohol from Niagara falls was when I was on the US side of it and it had an alcohol shop right at the end of the bridge. Thats where we got the XO for cheap since we and some other tourists bought it in bulk. |
lol
while the wines definitely make a special trip to niagara worth it,
i also went for the shaw festival
u know.. that annual theatrical fest ^^~
it was very spiffy ^__^
the wines aren't all that expensive at all i think it was around a hundred dollars for that spiffy ice wine that lots of ppl bought (in the place at least)
there are cheaper ones and they taste very spiffy too~ ^^
lol
bought this red wine.. erm.. forgot the name.. -____-...
but i love its crate.. it's so cute.. haha |

I haven't tried any Canadian reds. The only reds that I usually drink outside of those from Europe are those from US and AUS. If I had to drink wines from Canada, I'll stick to the Ice Wines thank you =P
I think the most expensive Ice Wines are still from Germany though =D |

| Well it doesn't really matter where it comes from because the quality of the wine has something to do with how old it is. So if you have like a 1860 bottle of Wine, it would probably be worth a lot now-a-days. |

Yes it might be worth a lot, but it doesn't mean it tastes good. The region is actually very important. The grapes from different regions tastes, smell, etc. differntly. How they go through the fermentation is differnt.
For example, I had a bottle of Joseph Phelps 1999 Insignia, which was better than the bottle from Moraga, Bel Air (1990).
Anyway, how much a person likes the wine is subjective anyway. Someone may like the taste of table wine more than something that costs much more. |

its really the personal preference that matters. i dont like poeple who prefer one thing over another just because the latter costs less. this is somehow similar to people who buys designer garments just for the name of it. _________________ "Look at me, with my pretty bracelet and tiara... | just because a wine is older doesnt mean it will be worth more or taste better, wines have a peak age and not all wines age well. I personally dont like alcohol, i hate seeing people losing control of themselves. especially if theyre the type who get drunk and start feeling sorry for themselves. but i must admit it can be hilarious, like when one of my classmates tried to climb up a plain wall. he was hugging it and keep slapping at it every once in a while. im not sure if he was just drunk. |

| yeah i do so too feel sorry for people who had alcohol almost control their lives, and even some people drinks at least a bottle a day and a pack of cigarettes..does wine really taste better if it is aged longer?any scientific reason for it? |

i think we already went through this
but basically
there a time that the wines theoretically reach their maturity age (the best time to drink them)
so if they are TOO old, in addition to the cork that may have been damaged (we had to filter out the cork in the older wines sometimes), the taste may have changed a lot and passed their prime
like i said before; old doesn't mean = good. old doesn't mean =expensive, though many of the times it is in fact the case |

Wine also has its special conditions that you need to keep them in. You have to have them set at a specific temperature in cellars (where its important to keep wine) and you must keep the wine in wooden barrels for a particular reason.
Why?
---The use of wine barrels (especially oak barrels) to store and age wine is a centuries old tradition (and solution). Wine aged in oak barrels is enhanced with the addition of vanilla and oak overtones. Wooden Wine Barrels also allow for a small amount of evaporation of the contents during the aging period. |

Yeah, it is true, but I can control my alcohol quite well since I never got drunk before in my entire life. Usually, when I felt I had enough, I usually stopped. Drinking in moderation also helps the liver in the end.
Anyways, anyone have tried rice wine from China?? It is very strong and I tried that once. I was surprised to find the alcohol more than 50%!! I nearly got drunk after four small glass of it. The smell is also very strong. _________________
