Guy's and Girls
The rasengan is so much more powerfull than the chidori because it took the hokage something like 4 years to master, only a hell powerfull jutsu would take the best ninja that long to master it. I bet it did'nt take the hokage that long to master the chidori.

Uhh... No...
It seems like the Chidori can only be used by Sharingan users so I don't think any normal ninja's can master it without the use of the Sharingan. |

| Nobody has actually proven that which is stronger. During the fight with Naruto and Sasuke, it appears that when they both went head on with their moves, Sasuke was the first one to get up and leave while Naruto was knocked out and unconscious. |

as soon as these two moves were created this question kicked off and I don't think a conclusive answer has arrived yet. but to keep it short and sweet. yondaime himself used the rasengan and called the chidori an 'incomplete technique'...can't be much clearer than that.
rasengan wins, hands down. close the lines, we have a winner. |

| i say rasengan as first of all, it is depicted as harder jutsu to master. In fact, that great hokage took .. what.. some years to master it himself. |

Rasengan can't always be performed more than Chidori. It's because of Naruto's crazy chakra capacity.
Anyways, Chidori probably has less power overall, but Chidori is the one doing the concentrating. It focuses the chakra into a point, which will deal a lot more damage than Rasengan if it hits head on. However, Rasengan has a bit more leeway. Since it is a blast, it's much harder to dodge, since even if you don't take it head on, the swirly air chakra thingies will still bring the pain.
For example, when Chidori was used by Kakashi, it went straight through the victim. Even Sasuke could make it go through Gaara's ultimate defense. When the Rasengan was used, it did a flashy thing, dealt a lot of damage, but in the end, the victim had a lot of internal damage, nothing more. Naruto could only stun Kabuto and immobilize him for a minute. Granted, Kabuto was a medic nin and even then he was beat, but you can be sure Chidori would have impaled his sorry hide. And even if Kabuto wasn't healing himself, it wouldn't be an instantaneous death.
So, in conclusion: It's a matter of skill. Chidori takes more skill to use, because it's basically all or nothing. You hit head on=pwnage. You miss or glance off=pwned. With rasengan, you can hit head on and deal a good amount of damage, or you can hit off and still deal decent damage.
I go with chidori. |
That reminds me of Hajime no Ippo where (urg what's his name!?) uhh... Miyata masters his counter and it's a get it right or get screwed skill. Ippo's skill is more flexible because you can change it up a bit although there was that problem with the rhythm... |

the reason naruto was kinda worn out after using the rasengan on the roof top battle was because it takes a lot of chakra to use. and look at the damage to each water tower after the battle the chidori smashed up the front a bit. but the rasengan completly burst open the back of the water tower. _________________ [img:350:100:b9d927e767]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y104/tehalbino/gaara2.png[/img:b9d927e767]

| rasengan, since it's used by third hokage. should be powerful enough, well if the user can control it. |

i'd say they're equally strong...
BUT i think it really depends on how much chakra the user has.
if naruto and jiyaira uses a rasengan on each other... who'd win?
(well naruto without using nine-tail fox chakra of course) |

I don't think the 3rd Hokage used the Rasengan; It was the 4th Hokage who used and invented it.
The reason why any of the hokages didn't use Chidori is because it requires a Sharingan in order to use it.
Why Yondaime (4th Hokage) called it an "incomplete technique"?
---Because not every ninja is able to use it, only the Sharingan users; Therefore the reason why it's incomplete.
[Basically doesn't allow everyone to use it so its an INCOMPLETE set.] |
