the grudge, ring 1 and 2...those are nothing but american-adapted stories from original japanese horrors, and they weren't even a bit scary than their japanese counterparts. props goes to japanese horror

america movies used to scare me when i was a litte kid but as i grew older they got more crapper and japanese movies like the ring, juon or kairo can still give me the creeps now so i like japanese movies betta.

Yeah thats true. When I was little zombies used to be scary.... and ghosts were never scary at all. I think my belief was that ghosts cant harm you, even if I saw it in movies I didnt believe it. But when I saw Ju On..... it scared me so bad that I literally didnt get any sleep that night..... or the next. In fact that whole week I slept maybe 20 hours.

i prefere japanese horror becuase their a lot more freaky than american horror which is usually based on the amount of blood/screams they can add to shock the audience. the japanese generally have a more realistic feel to them.

japanese horror is scarier, the only american movie that scares me is the exorcist..><

maybe some japanese directors expercience such horrors, cuz u know here in japan many ppl here commit suicide, mostly at young ppl and business man. sometime ppl here die with a grudge they want revenge or something..

it really scares me..

I agree. One of the reason the Ju On was so scary was because its not that far fetched. I have seen ghosts (in real life) that cant hurt me, but this movie just made perfect sense. (Well, sort of, for a supernatural story)

Off Topic-->sakuraglory, are you Japanese too? I am.

hmm, my opinion.. i think in 'shocking the audiences' aspect, i would prefer american movies, but in wrapping the audiences with the 'coldness of horror', it would be jpan movies. well, american movies are always good in portraying the images of ghosts and demons, but sometimes the plot are too predictable. while the jpan movies are actually stereotype in 'imaging' their ghosts(most ghosts are shampoo-female-model alike, with their hair covers their faces, and they also oftenly wear white clothes), but the plot are very good, and the ending oftenly twists with our predictions. hmm, the most importantly, both are worth watching.hihihhihihi Evil or Very Mad Twisted Evil

i think jap horror's better
american horror tends to be in your face and gets a little cliche after sometime. jap horror is more subtle and more likely to send the shivers down the spine.

and american re-makes of j-horror cannot make it!

i don't think jap and american horrors are scary at all. I watch them a lot, but they never seem to get me. But if i have to chose one i will say american horrors are much better.

I think American horror for the most part it BOO scary like your Freeddy movies or Jason. But japanese movies are physcological thrillers that chill you to the core and freak you out lol ex:/ Ju-on, Ringu (both of which were ripped off by americans lol) japanese horror is on a completely different lev el than that of American everything from story and character development to original plots and production just seem scarier lol...
