Yes, you are not crazy. Opera has removed the ads and registration so that means IT'S COMPLETELY FREE. I would suggest all Firefox Pro users to try Opera, i'm quite sure you'll be satisfied with it since it has better features and functions such as security, faster page loading, smart pop up blocking and what's better is Opera now supports Bittorrent !!!

I have been using Opera for years now and i'm quite happy with this news. I personally like the voice command feature which allows the user to command the browser to perform certain tasks such as go to home page or return the previous page visited etc.

Give it a try, guys ! Click the thumbnail below to visit Opera's website.

Well, I have been using IE for quite a long time, so don't want to switch. But, thanks a lot, Lucifer!

IE?! You've been living under a rock and it's been about time for you to switch to Opera or Firefox.

I installed Opera (one before the ad-free) and I was impressed how fast it loads compared to Firefox. My input on Opera switching from Firefox:

1. Ad-banner (scratched out).

2. A lot of sites doesn't display properly (thumbs down).

3. Find feature isn't as good as Firefox and needs getting used to where the find textbox is placed to have the real-time text searching (thumbs down). It also doesn't have sound when you make early errors (thumbs down).

4. I'm a user who likes to use bookmarks. Even though the sidepanel takes up space (thumbs down), Opera is good if you have hundreds of bookmarks (thumbs up).

5. I'm a tab person and Opera requires three buttons to make a new tab: ctrl+shift+n (thumbs down). I haven't tried messing around with the shortcut keys configuration yet.

6. Instead of sequential like Firefox, when you close the current page, Opera goes back to the previous active page (thumbs down). I'd like to have it sequential. Hopefully, somebody could tell me how.

7. A tab for file transfers (thumbs up).

8. Pop-up blocker is okay (thumbs up). Unwanted pop-ups still goes through.

9. Hard time playing some videos (thumbs down).

10. Stores closed tabs (thumbs up). Great if you accidentally closed a tab down.

11. The loading bar in the address bar is nifty but sometimes annoying, mostly because it shows the ratio of how much the images has been loaded successfully which is completely unnecessary for me. Also the loading bar is sometimes inaccurate for me so I'm giving it a thumbs down.

12. Sometimes the browser would abnormally use up way too much of the CPU and lock up especially when I have multiple pages open for this forum (thumbs down).

13. Zooming ability (thumbs up).

I kinda have more to say, I think, but I'm in a rush right now because I need to study for my Legal Business and Environmental Law exam. My last words would be, Opera is good but not the best. It's not perfect, of course, because of being a close-source program. But they're great for being that. There's been quite a lot of sacrifices (like not being able to view sites properly) for making the browser really secured. I couldn't even check my University email account.

Firefox is highly customizable like a Liger Zero. It has extensions that I prefer more over Opera and I've tweaked that it doesn't eat up my memory. Firefox is also way much more simplistic (despite a few security tweaks) which is what I like. And I don't really have much concern of Firefox's security since you have to be extremely stupid to let the unsolved security holes hit ya. I recommend Opera to the people who doesn't know much about computers but with my use, I'm sticking Firefox.

I still have Opera installed in my computer. It's just that Firefox is still my default browser, but I alternate the use of both.

Downloaded it just now and tried it out, maybe I haven't given it enough time yet but I found it to be somewhat annoying so far. I'll give it more of a chance later on and see how it works. But it was faster then I thought even with my bittorrent taking up all my bandwith

thugangel : Indeed Opera has some parts which can be improved but no software in this world is perfect including Firefox pro. I think being a closed-source, Opera has done very well in making Internet browsing a lot more secure and easier.

I think choosing a browser really depends on one's taste so not everyone will like the same thing. Not that i dislike Firefox but i just like Opera more. For me, i only use Firefox when i'm unable to view certain webpages perfectly with Opera.

it seems that Opera kinda loads slower to me...I use different kind of browsers but I'll exclude Firefox.(since I don't like it).

and yes...everyone has his/her own opinion on using a browser.
I've been using AOL, Yahoo and the ol' IE.

If you have some time, go to Opera's forum and check some threads to tweak the browser settings to improve the performance and speed.

All the users there are friendly so don't worry too much.

I reckon firefox is better. I like the idea that it's open source so it allows users to develop new and tons of plugins everytime. I find it trustworthy as popup blocker and well, other than really little drawbacks, I would stay with it

The Mozilla team said themselves that Firefox won't last long in maybe a decade. The more new things develop, the more new and complex bugs created.

I like Firefox so far rather than IE. Firefox better than IE when we talking about security and tab feature so u dont have open too many windows. But again, every browser have own unique. One of firefox weakness is when u open many tab in one firefox, suddenly ur RAM usage will raise make ur computer lack of resource. In my opinion, the problem is not only in browser application but also the OS thingy. So stop complain using any of browser version. Always update ur windows OS with the latest official patch and also put firewall, antivirus or any other protecting software. U want more secure using internet? try openbsd or any other unix system.
