Well... I guess you all know right about now that according to anime-source, Cloud and his friends will be back again on the PS3!
 
Now.... who else is excited by this news?! Make some noise!!!
PS: I am double checking this right now, if this is a prank by Anime-Source, I am going to hunt down those responsible and kill them with a pool noodle!

Well, basically the FF7 for the PS3 is just a revamp of the original game. Probably just going to redo the graphics, audio and possibly add voice dialogue (which I am personally rooting for). FF7 was considered to have the best story line in all of the franchise and so it is fitting that they remake it on the new console in order to give the newer generation of gamers a fresh chance to play the game, but in doing so they can also get back their original fan base. This is a very smart play by Squaresoft. What this really shows is the level of excellency that the new age of RPGs need to bring to the table and that means that we will be seeing more and more solid gameplay, solid storyline, good graphics, good audio RPGs.

ok plp's, unfortunately it isn't a remake it was just a demo so you could see the graphics on the ps3. yea that's right, well at least im pretty sure its that and what i've heard. so don't get too excited.
why they used ff7 for the demo? who knows.

They chose FF:VII for the demo because it's really popular and it's also about the same time FF:VII AC came out. With FF:XI out and rereleasing to Xbox360, Dirge of Cerberus: FFVII for PS2, FF:VII Crisis Core for PSP, and FF:VII Before Crisis for mobile phones, it was a good time for them to show something for PS3. Also, FF:XI on Xbox360 isn't much different from the PS2 version, just a slight graphics improvement. Therefore advertising FF:XI for PS3 will be useless.
As for the rumour, well it's not a rumur anymore. Here's my reply to toxicworm's news:

| It's a demo only, from what I've heard. They did the same thing for FFVIII when the PS2 was coming out. That being said, I would probably buy a PS3 just for the game if they DID remake it. |

| Square will most likely remake FFVII just for the Benjamins. I don't think they will past the chance to make more money off their cash cow, FFVII. |

Either that, or they ran out of story ideas. But hey, why would I be complaining? I loved Final Fantasy 7 and I'm more than willing to buy a PS3 just for that game. As I said in an earlier thread, PS3>XBOX360 if ever there was an FF7 remake. Looks like that might just be a reality. |

| I was the one who put up the news and I got this info from a magazine that I subscribe from. It was actually from EGM. I was half way thru the playstation one too, but i rather prefer to finish the story in the new graphics. Even if I have to wait a few years. |

| I wished it could have a release on the psp instead of the ps3. It seems that a ps3 port would have over killed the purpose of the game's limited game play. There will be so many complex games to the system and backwards capability for the original game that I would wish for some portability for the game. |
