Best emotional drama series

I never would have thought RahXephon would have such drama and suspense considering the plot and such. I also found that Full Moon wo Sagashite was quite dramatic and touching to the heart. The ending really left you feeling good which is a relief! What almost made me cry was Momiji's story in Fruits Basket.Kimi ga Nozomu Eien was quite predictable and sort of irritating. I didn't find Kanon that shocking either, well it was a surprise but not a heartbreaking one.

I just watched Rah Xehpon ep 19. It was really tragic, but the two characters only fled and lived together for a short period of time (one episode) and Rah Xephon has me more confused and trying to figure out what is going on that anything else. But you guys are right, ep 19 is a shot out of no where which makes it shockingly tragic.

A lot of those mentioned I'd nominate, but ones I don't think I've seen listed: Stellvia of the Universe, and Violinist of Hameln. FMoS and Hameln being the top two tearjerkers/heartbreaking things I've seen.

My Sassy Girl? It was pretty touching at the end... but there was a lot of comedy in it also. Wasn't My Sassy Girl the #1 Korean love/comedy movie last summer...? I think they even made a manga out of it.

Of course, it is bias but it should give readers enough tragic animes to watch for quite a good while. The ONLY thing I have to say, however, is that you do not have X TV on that list! Though it may have a happy ending, there are countless romantic tragedies (mostly deaths) that great character development and brilliant music only make more dramatic. Sides, if that series had a sad ending (such as with the movie, though it wasn't very harsh since there was no char. development) I think that would have resulted in some sort of tragedy-overdose in viewers.
