OWNED. Well really, in my school in Oregon, there are like what 100 Asians? out of 1500, and guess what like 5 of them including myself are the only ones who read manga...

it depends on where you are. I thought it'd be interesting to drop by this thread..I become quite offended. I don't know who posted it, but I recall reading on earlier that Indonesia bothers Japan. Just because I don't come out yelling where I'm from doesn't mean my country is not in between Indonesia and Japan! (translate--it's closer)
The main factor is that manga and anime are extremely cheap outside of Japan. In fact, it's relatively cheaper in Japan than in US or EU when compared to price of everything elses. I could get a manga in my country, Thailand, for less than $1, (properly licensed, perfect translation), and anime DVD costs about $5 including tax. Of course it still costs more than a bowl of noodle, but at least it doesn't costs as much as a steak.
The most influencial factor though, would be the time factor--anime and manga has been in Asia for a long time, just as comic books are in the US and EU. That gives time for them to gain larger fan base, just like most children in US would read some comics. The culture is also much more similar, so people can really feel for the manga/anime easily. |

| i think it would be asian because Japan made the manga and then sends it to other countries like China...and we know China is a big place... |

| Definitely asian. I'm not against non-asians reading manga because I have American and Spanish blood in me but who cares these days. Manga is an Asian culture we should read it first before others. I think. |

I would think it would be Asian simply because they have more access to the manga. We have to wait until someone translates it or unless we actually learn to read and speak Japanese. Which isn't very easy by the way... _________________ I know you're better than me; don't rub it in. I feel inferior enough as it is. |

| Although its popular in Japan, it seems like in america more non-asian people read manga rather for Japanese reading skills or just for general entertainment... I think you need to phrase this question better if you want to get the response you want. |
