Hey guys. I haven't really been around much... falling behind in anime. Only series I'm hanging onto is Samurai 7 at the moment.
Right now I've been working on a script and props for a movie that me and my friends are making this summer. I've created several sword sets and I'm midway through with the script. If there are some of you guys that have any experience and want to edit it when I'm done, feel free to give me a hollar at S1lverArgentum over AIM. or you can send me an e-mail at argentum at pinco dot com...
Here's the basic plot:
An ironic love story where a woman, Andrea (Ahn-Drey-Uh) Valare (Vah-Lah-Rey), who as her secret identity, Silent Grace, is a famed swords master who has earned the respect (and hatred) of many throughout the land by her unique style of fighting, has been targeted in an assassin plot. Her assassin, another man Adrian (something) who holds a secret identity himself, notices her at a cafe the next day. Not recognizing one another, they begin to talk, and become friends. Not knowing that they are each others enemies, they fall into the trance of timid love...
The biggest problem in it is that one of my friends pointed out that it seemed just like one of the episodes of Outlaw Star. After they pointed this out, I didn't feel so comfortable about writing this, because I know that a lot of people would think that I ripped it from that series and tried making something like it. Grr... I hate it when ideas you have were already done Just felt like adding this in so you guys knew...
Here are some of the swords I've created:
This is a large sword that one of the assassins will be using. I don't really like it too much. It's heavy-really heavy, and the metal's hard to work with. It's still incomplete-I have to finish the handle, cut the tip into a feasible tip and decorate the sheath. Total cost so far in construction: $12 US.
I'm really proud of this one. I've changed it today so that one blade is shorter than the other. It's easier now to pull it out from out behind you... instead of pulling out an arm's length and it still being stuck. Still working out little problems. The longer blade is called Silent and the shorter is called Grace. This will be used by the heroine. Total cost: $50 US.
The baby swords! These are tiny, and they just fit behind you through a belt. I need to alter it slightly so the blades don't come out so easily (else they'll just fall out when you run and jump around). This set I called Lyoko, dunno why. I think that the assassins Malcolm (he has a name cause he's got lines) will be using these. Total cost: None, all scraps/from big things that were cheap.
Anyways, yeah. I'm hoping to get this whole movie thing done before the end of August, which is pretty fast.
I really need help finding where I can get blueprints for a kimono, or where I can buy a black kimono VERY cheaply, since I'm spending way too much money right now. (My friend who's also helping make props spent about 60 dollars.. about 20 worth for his sword and 40 for tons of other things we'll be using)
Its been a while since I've seen outlaw star so I can't give a comment but it looks like you're going all out with the props. I'm interested on how your project will turn out, keep us updated. _________________

Wow That is really cool. I especially like the second sword Silent Grace. I don't remember that plot line in Outlaw Star but it's been a while. I was wondering when you finish it are you going to distribute it online? Because I would very much like to watch it. Sorry I could not answer your questions but I am really at a loss. But mad kudos on your work , hope to see your movie one day _________________ Need help adding an image to your signature? Click here then.
yeah, I'm planning on having it availible online when it's ready.. which should be near the end of august XD can't film for two weeks, and I'm going to cali for about five days in august.
biggest thing that scares me is that a lot of home videos have that really crummy quality/image look thingie. (hard to explain for me, but it's just.. bleh.)
that and also the lack of people to act. everyone's on vacation! AHH _________________ TheXolution

Those look like some nice props/weaponry.
And the Outlaw Star episode being the one with the cats in it isn't it? Or at least that is the one that came to mind, but only once it was mentioned it was like Outlaw Star. (Which us Europeans got the unedited version of .)
-Done with script, final editor is 50% complete, will have it done by next meeting.
-Going to get costumes by the end of the week, still looking for kimono
-Finished Adrian's sword, Wings of Eternity
Special sword.
This is the sword all sheathed.
Main sword closed. (closed? hum!)
It opens up like this
Ends up like that!
As a backup in case he loses the sword (whoops I just gave away something) his sheath becomes a bludgeoning device-sword thing.
The sheath is really a secondary weapon
...which happens to be able to extend 2x it's size.
I've been getting offers from people to buy these swords..
Lyoko- $20
SG- $50
Hand Blade- $20
(hand blade is something I just completed today but showcased three days ago... it's a wrist guard that I made as a prototype for a spring loaded melee glove.. this one is manual but sports a longer blade. I need another part for the left guard though and I'll be almost done with all the weapon props for the movie)
Umm what else. Oh, I have the majority of film locations decided as well as filled a few positions for the cast.
Whew -_- I doubt I'll finish this before the school year starts.. prolly earliest is late september _________________ TheXolution
for the kimono, have you checked ebay? i did a search for kimono and it pulled up 10+ pages. and there was alot of cheap stuff. even if you buy one thats nicer and more money, you could sell it after ur done.
some of the things labeled kimono arent really kimonos, just chinese style tho.
good luck with the project. be sure to post the link! the weapons are very cool. i like the sheath that extends. what metal are you using? i am also curious where you got the metal.
can you post fotos of the characters?

Wow Shoangore... HUGE applause. Seeing all of this is enticing me to actually take on a new project of my own, but I'll resist and just continue to concentrate on my writing for now.
But maybe when I finish the book... would be some fun movie material... hmm... _________________ You can't hold no groove if you ain't got no pocket.
the metal I'm primarily using is aluminum. They're these long rectangular things... I don't actually know their actual purpose, but I see them used in a lot of my physics equipment for doing experiments, so I'm guessing that's what it's for.
Aluminum's also soft enough for me to cut (I first did cuts using nothing but a pocket knife.. I've recently upgraded to drilling and using a grinder) and also very light. Prices for the varying sizes are 3.50-5.68 per length thing.
The sheath is actually steel, but I spray painted it to make it look a bit nicer. It makes the thing wayy heavier than I'd like, but I suppose I can live with it :p
btw- I have checked on ebay for items, and I bought something that I thought might work for adrian.. I won it on the 25th and paid on the 26th and have still yet to even get a REPLY from the seller. -_- And I can't find any good kimonos either, so I'm holding out.
EDIT:
I threw that together when people asked me what andrea would look like. Er.. I didn't make it. It's actually a background image, then I took three pictures (head, hand, hand) and then made a mass of blackness to pretend to be a kimono. (she's not magical either, I threw in the orb of light cause I thought "what the hell")
The people that should actually be playing the parts will be Jeff and Jacqueline. Jacqueline's a great actress and singer (she's been in school plays and plays down at our theatre, also attends some acting classes) and jeff's good enough at acting at things, plus they're going out.
only problem is that the characters are supposed to be in their twenties.. and we're all in our teens
the picture doesn't do them much justice... this is like four months ago. My camera's been broken for like three months so I don't have anything recent. plus, I took them by surprise when I took the picture. _________________ TheXolution

Actually, no it doesnt. Anyways, cool stuff you're doing there. Are you the director? And the swords look so cool. How did you make all that stuff? _________________ Life is what you make it to be, not what it makes you to be.
heh, this thread's actually very very old; someone's dug it up.
The movie production was halted because the members in the club didn't think they had the ability to pull anything aside from shallow comedy, and a few months later fell to pieces.
quite sad, really, but I've kept the swords and am turning the script into a short story instead.
as for the swords... just spend an hour or two at home depot, question your masculinity in a fabric store (I don't mean that in a negative way.. you get addicted to that place, and once you leave you think "whoa, did I seriously just spend an hour in there?) and even more time cutting, bending and burning yourself with hot glue. _________________ TheXolution
