It's been a while, but there is actually a series that I'm looking foward to watching on a week by week basis again (aside from Bleach). The opening scene grabbed my attention like very few animes do. Lots and LOTS of violence.
The story seems quite interesting involving vampire-like creatures, bat monsters and supposedly some sort of government sanctioned group to regulate it all. Saya seems pretty interesting, albeit typical, off the bat:
Fast metabolism, blood transfusions and forgotten pasts make for a very interesting girl... =)
Unlike Cluster Edge, I look foward to d/l this next week. =) |

well the first ep was pretty good. The begining scene was very very nice I'm glad they got right down to the fighting instead of 2 more ep of "introductions" before finally starting to get to something good. I'm looking forward to the next episodes. It's really hard to tell how the anime will be after just 1 ep, but i'm hoping it'l be a new hit series. |

just watch the first ep of Blood, i founded it quite interesting compare to other animes that i had watch for the first time.
during the introduction we are introduces to a girl named Saya. she appears to have a medical condition that requires her to visit the hostipal to get a blood transfussion and she also has amnesia(lost memories) of her past life. Saya lives with a foster family for about a year now since the time she went on a rampage and killed the villagers, military officials and monsters. on her way home she just realize that she had forgotten her gym shoes at the school. as she enter the school, she see the same guy that was playing a cello(i think) on the streets, he took out a dagger which frighten Saya and cause her to run away in fear. she bumped into a teacher at the school and told him what happened. he didnt believe her and started making jokes about it. it was sort of hilarious when a hand sudden came from above and grabbed that guys head and putted him away from the screen. no they didnt show the scene with him being killed. that cello guy saved Saya, gave her a kiss which healed the wounds that she recieve from that bat monster.

First impression:
Episode 1 did not disappoint. From the opening theme (which I instantly liked) to the animation quality (hopefully they will retain that high standard throughout the sereis) and the introduction of the characters, they were all done to my liking and oh yes I almost forgot, the blood, lots of it in the opening scene itself! (which sort of reminds me of Elfen Lied in that aspect).
It ended in a sort of a clifhanger. I can hardly wait for ep 2.
Episode 1 raised some interesting questions which I hope they will explore and answer in the next 51 ep:
- Saya's begining. We see her in a castle, look like medival times. Wonder how old she is, who her parents are and how she became a vampire.
- The blood transfusion was interesting. Is it to preempt her from sucking on live human blood? What is the condition that required her to get the transfusion? Is the doctor at the hospital aware of Saya's nature?
- Getting a blood transfusion did not turn her eyes red but consuming Hagi's blood did. Why?
- She is a vampire but a day walker. She was unable to heal her own wounds in the begining.
- Why she went berserk, killing everyone in the village.
- What is Hagi? Is he a monster too and how did he become one? I wonder if he and Saya were lover's in the past?

love this anime =)
all its aspects, animation, music/sound and story is done wonderfully.
This might actually be my fav anime if they could continue with the same standard as they are doing with eps 1.
however... live-evil is known for its slow releases... i hope they'll pick up the pace for this one. And i hope other subbers will pick this project up too, this will provide some good competition for faster releases |

i hope this show doesnt rely too much on the horror aspect as it's planned to run for a year, and there are only so many twists you can throw in before they become stale. i will, however, say the action and animation in this series get d-^_^-b, two thumbs up.
the character designs also might show a shift from horror to action as in the movie, the everything had a really gritty and despairing feel to it.
this is definately on my "view now" list. _________________

I hated the Blood movie.
It had excellent animation, solid plot, and cool action without a god-moding protagonist. She beats up the evil bad bads, and then... It's over?! The movie was so poorly paced that it was over just as it began! This was very rude, and that's why I didn't like the movie at all.
When I heard there was a series, I rejoiced. It would be similar to the movie, yet be properly paced.
I watched the first episode, and everything was as I predicted with a bonus. Sawa seemed to dig and be digged by her classmate. Stupid thought? Yes, but fun. The only disadvantage is that I learned from this thread is that it's going to be 52 episodes. That means it's going to take a while to uncover all the secrets. |
