right, i love bleach, i wouldnt put it that far above mai "but thats besides the point", i'll reask the question which is if mai hime is just okay and theres so many great recent shows out there: by all means rattle em off, you should atleast be able to give a good handful of better shows, coming up with one show that you think is better, well that just proves my point. the flip side of this being if there really are a bunch of shows that are better i do want to watch them, already watching bleach though....

its funny you ask where all the male characters are, typical..

Maybe you guys want to put the "Mai Hime >> other anime" topic somewhere else? Since it has no relevance whatsoever to Mai Otome.

well this is an alternate universe as opposed to Mai-Hime... so no wonder you feel some similarities when you see the screenshots...

I am more interested however, in how different/similar the personalities will be in oppose to Mai-Hime (alternate universe Very Happy

) and how different/similar the new main character as opposed to Mai...

hoping this one will be as good as the final arc of the series (mind-blowing stuff, that one... ), or at least as good as the middle arc...

Yeah i was also thinking about the character relationships and how they will develop in this series, if they are going to continue along the lines of Mai-Hime or be unique, but i won't be able to answer this untill i see a few of the eps. Very Happy

sera2fin plz ... drop it. I already told you, I can name MORE... Yakitate Japan, Iriya no Sora, Shuffle!, He is My Master, FMP! TSR...etc etc. Bleach is just one of them. This topic has really gone on enough. Peace, k? Anyway, on with the ORIGINAL topic.

The scrnshots look good, but it seems to me they have some sort of battle dress?! (or is that a school uniform). Looks kinda interesting but I don't think they are able to summon their "monsters" this time (Forgot what Duran and the others were called... perhaps sera2fin can correct me here... Very Happy

There's no monster summoning by the good guys in ep1 at least. Otome come in three rangs: Coral, Pearl and Meister. Nina (coral) seems to need someone to unlock her powers because Mashiro has to kiss her earring, which is the source of otome power. Akane (pearl) and Shizuru (meister) don't seem to need that since they just jump in battle ready. Maybe they transformed off-screen, don't know yet.
Their battle suits make them faster and enable flight. If Shizuru would carry laser guns, she could be a Gundam Very Happy

heh you said shuffle, he is my master, etc etc... i've seen those and all i can do is laugh...neway ive already dropped it cuz i know im right, its you who cant drop it and with good reason, its hard to be wrong. but seriously, everyones taste is different, that said, i'm not sure theres anything wrong with having a minidiscussion of what some of the recent best anime were here, but since others do, itll be my last post about season 1.

If this is a continuation of Mai-HiME, then i don think Natsuki would need otome powers since she has the HiME powers and CHILDs, while the others like Akira(new main character) and Shizuru(read manga!!), who does not posess HiME powers need otome powers to fight slaves or watever lifeform with the crystal necklace........Also, it seems that the battle suit is so technology similar to technology that made M.A.Y.U by the Serrears(??) Corp.....lolx

hmmm... I thought this was supposed to be an alternate universe of Mai-Hime, rather than a sequel to that series... Since Shizuru was also a HiMe in Mai-Hime... doesnt matter anyway

well then I just saw the first episode subbed by Doremi-Otome

First Impression: It doesnt annoys me much as what Mai-Hime had done to me in the first episode, so that is pretty good stuff... Some old characters are out of character, some are still the same person...

Thoughts on the first episode:

Well, not having Childs might turn out to be a good thing... I rather love melee battles more... but will wait for more to see how will it turn out...

Shizuru and Natsuki are kinda the same girls as they use to be, except Natsuki is much more cooler in this one (well if she is the headmaster, she have to be a tad more mature) The Otome-transform are a tad unoriginal, but originality is such a rarity in anime these days so I might let that pass...

EDIT: Well now that this series has now begin, and the first episode has rolled off the fansubbers production line, I want to ask all of you to stop debating about what anime is great or best or whatever... Please debate or talk about it either HERE or HERE. There might be other threads around, search for it yourself...

Furthermore, comparing manga to anime is ok to a certain extent, but I might as well warn early on... Manga Discussion please go to the manga thread!!

Now that is out of my chest, back to anime discussion. If you have any comments about this warning, don't hesitate to PM me...

ugh... problems with new anime: too many sub groups start subbing it and then dropping it mid-way. Very difficult to choose which sub group to watch (I still remember the agony when TSR! is out and there were like half a dozen groups subbing it, but I went for a-kingdom in the end -__-")

So, mistabean, is Doremi-Otome any good?

Doremi-Otome is a no frills sub, a two-man operation from what i see in the channel... so it is a speed-sub... they didnt do the OP/ED karaoke, which of non-importance to me... Typesetting fonts are just normal fonts, which can be good sometime... vid-quality is acceptable, and I dont know about the translation accuracy since I dont understand japanese... Razz

Just saw the first episode, and i am slightly relieved, This dosen't stick with the same story as mai hime, and like mistabean said, this looks more like melee combat, hand to hand, and weapons. That i think will make the fight sequences in this better, then mai-hime because they will be more personal. So i am looking forward to the next episode.

Also i am curious about the significance of the Souten no Seigyoku (the jewel arika has) i allready have some theories about it, but i will just have to wait and see. Smile
