Why is Gundam Seed such a popular hit?

I can't understand y gundam seed is considered to be a relatively "good" anime! The series lacks in orignality, and frankly i can barely stand to watch an episode due to the fact that i may just die from boredom and sunny imaging of rainbows and carebears within the series! I think that the series pales in comparison to Gundam Wing...in fact i believe that ALL the gundam series do as well..and i'm not the only one who believes so. Will some1 plz explain to me how gundam seed is an attracting/ eye catching anime?!~!

Well thats quite an odd statement since just about every gundam has the same main plot points just spun a little different. You have your character who doesnt want to fight, your political turmoil and behind the scenes power plays trying to shape what is happening and mixed in along the way is usually a bit of a romantic twinge at a few various parts but not enough to ever give any of it a real overtone just a nice side quest you can latch onto a few different points.

Then you mix in the beautifully animated battles and you basically have most any gundam. All gundam does is spin that very similar plot a slightly different way.

I think its more of why is all Gundam series so popular?

Most of the Gundams seem to be rehashed from older Gundam series, like gunslingergal says they all have a few elements that seem to make it work.

1) Political turmoil.

2) Characters who find themselves forced to fight.

3) Some romantic angles or hints at it.

4) Big large scale mecha battles.

It was popular back in the days, and its popular now. As long as its popular (in demand) they will continue to make it.

A combination of those elements make Gundam and Gundam SEED interesting for me, although I detest the invincible Gundams destroying everyone else (I prefer 8th MS Team).

Well, I personally don't find any Gumdam series good. Well, I just don't really like all these robots fighting, find them a bit boring.

Personally, the only reason I like mecha anime is because of my love of sci-fi. I would probably watch any sci-fi anime that was half-good.

it's true how all the gundam series has some common and key characteristics, but i'm still skeptical on how gundam seed is so popular? I dunno, the action and storyline really seems to bore me..but maybe i just never gave it a chance to begin with..

maybe it's the Gundam for the "new" genaration...the past will be forgotten i guess. I myself don't like it much, I prefer the older ones.
and it's all about the Mobile Suits...that makes the series shine

good point i don't really know why gundam is so popular and i dont really know why i am watching it. probably becuase i am an anime fan. but if you ask me why i like other anime i wouldn't know what to say either. Razz

i'm seriously thinking about just buying the whole damn series in order to point out all it's flaws..lol....but i guess it's pointless seeing that i can barely get through 1 episode of it. i even argued with a worker at suncoast about how i think it's a gay series..lol

Seed is more popular than Wing is because Seed has better animation than almost all the other gundam series in almost every aspect. After watching several other gundam series (a bit of wing and 8th Ms team), I noticed that Seed has a much better animation style than the others IMPO (in most ppls opinions) and if they made the characters look cool, it will attract more people. And it did. BIGTIME. Also if they recycle some old gundams and make them anew (GINNs wings look like master gundams, strike- self explanatory, Impulse- self-explanatory, etc...), along with better features, then that would attract more people again. And it did, BIGTIME (even me; I buy model kits from seed Laughing

Also the OSTs of Seed are WAY BETTER thanthose other gundam OSTs (the first time I listened to SEEDs opening Invoke, I started to listen to JAPANESE music altogether, especially seed/destiny OSTS). They did that for watchers and for the style. And it worked. BIGTIME. Everything about it looks cool and sounds cool, Therefore, it's POPULAR. Thats all about anime; animation and style ALWAYS comes first before story and depth. I mean, who would want to watch some show with a great story, but such RIDICULOUSLY RIDICULOUS animation? I wouldn't. And you shouldn't either!! So all in all, Seed is popular because the people who made it used delicous bait to lure us and they did. Now they have money and women and we have our awesome series. And if you don't like that, then GET THE HECK OUTTA HERE and forget about seed.

The only thing is I don't know why they use so much re-used animation; be it launching or attacking......I'm sure they get millions of bucks from the shows, so why can't they just make it newer? I',m sure THAT will make it bigger than the others. So to slap it all together, I hated 08th MS team and I'm not njoying Wing very much, So right now SEED/DESTINY is on the top with popularity, animation, story(maybe not Destiny), and just about everything. now if you excuse me, I'm going to watch more wing....
