| When I first got my DSL i was capped at 130kbs, than after like a year something kept happening where my dsl modem would just shut down. So some guy came and fixed it and after he left, I couldnt dl past 80kbs. Than yesterday night I couldnt dl past 35kbs. I thought it would get better in the morning but nope. Can anyone help with this? I need to speed that thing back up. |

Do you mean direct download or Bittorrent?
If it's BT, there maybe several factors like number of seeds, peers and leeches. If you are talking about direct downloading, you can test the speed :

If it's lower than what your line should at least offer, i advice you to contact your ISP to get it checked. _________________ What's yours is mine, what's mine is still mine. |

if you are talking a bout a normal download not a bittorent it might be because of something happening on the server or somewhere between you and the file.
if thats not it just reset the modem that almost always helps me _________________ Want advice DONT WORK AT WALMART... Theres your freebie... |

well if its bt then lucifer answers your question right there.. bt depends on the ppl you leech it from..
but if its direct download.. it can be anything, your computer got slower, you have a ton of crap eating up bandwidth without you knowing... someone you're sharing your connection with is downloading at the same time... there's something wrong with the company... i dont know, theres so many possibilities... i think your best bet is to contact the company and ask them there.. =p...and then if that doesnt work get a new and better connection.. _________________ Mr. Offtopic o_o

Well....for one thing....it oculd be the electromagnetic interference with your UTP cable (cat5).
Another thing could be that your modem overheats and it is just needed that u unplug it and wait 10 seconds to plug it in again.
Another thing could be your driver for your NIC...(Network Interface Card). It might have the setting of Half Duplex....if it does...set it to Full Duplex |
