Ah My Goddess-Belldandy spelled wrong?

I was just wondering if anybody out there realized where the names of the 3 goddess of Ah My Goddess comes from. Don't think I'll get a lot of posts but I just wanted an answer. The names Urd, Skuld and Belldandy actually comes from the 3 Norns of the Norse Myths, where Urd(fate) Skuld(necessity) and Verdandi(being). I'm not sure if the tranlators spelled it wrong or changed it. It is easy to mistake the word "berudandi" because the Japanese Alphabet does not have Vs in it, so they most often use Bs in place of Vs. Anyways my point is I'm not sure if her name was translated wrong or changed by the Americans or the Japanese themselves. What's your opinion on this? or if you know, please tell me.

I'm pretty sure the name is Belldandy by design. Maybe the designer confused something or he knew the name would be too difficult to pronounce. Who knows Smile

Hmmm... Belldandy looks kinda cuter than Verdandi. Yes, I think it's just a misconception.

But I really would prefer Belldandy....

I agree. Even if it is a mistranslation, I'd still prefer Belldandy since it sounds a lot more cuter.

yeah i also think that they change it to belldandy because it seems to suit her more and all her powers seems to be related to it to from my point of view. like her angel and her power of the wind they all seem to relate to wind and bells.

Her name is intended to be Verdandi, named so after the Norse god. Because this can't be adequately expressed in a Japanese alphabet, the rescription into the roman alphabet gives us something closer to "Berudandy," or "Belldandy."
