well i just make it so i don't know how about you guys
is this forum about the biological meaning of life or the physcological meaning.
the biological meaning of life is simple, it's to pass on ones genes, that's why humans subconscioulsy aspire to be better in certain ways because it increase the chance of passing down genes.

Well, I don't know, I personally want to be able to feel pain always (I mean I want the ability, not that I want to always be in pain). Pain itself isn't necessarily a bad thing, just what caused the pain in first place might be. It's the nature behind it that counts for everything, I think. It lets you know there's something up.
Yeah, I agree that life is a journey to reach somewhere, though. It's how you live your life along the way that determines if you were really alive in the first place. The meaning of Life can be as simple or as complicated as you make it out to be, and a few jaded individuals don't believe there's any meaning outside of biological necessities --- which I feel would be pointless if that's all there was to it.

Well, what is "religion"? Isn't it just a set of beliefs that a person(s) practices and follows? If so, then everyone's involved in some kind of religion, whether it be spiritual in nature, or worldly. But enough of being so abstract.
To the point, I don't agree with religion being exclusive and being a popularity contest. That just depends on the people involved, not necessarily on the religion itself. Am I going to let other people decide how I'm going to practice my own religion? Hell no. I'll decide for myself. That's my way of life, and that's my religion, and anyone's free to join if that's what they want. That's just the way it is.

well, yes all religions start out centeresd around a base of beliefs/ideas. but after a while, many people just join that religion to say they joined it. it loses all meaning. thats why religion has gotton so BS.

I don't know, I'm pretty sure the guy was out to flame a little. Seems he/she''s got a personal agenda, I think. But that's just my opinion.
Anyway, I was thinking about the same thing you were. I was wondering if people were going to turn this into a religious thing after I was asked about my own faith. I mean, it's hard for people to leave religion out of a discussion of this nature since --- for most people --- it does brush up on some kind of faith that they believe in (that would be considered religious in nature, anyway). If it started to get too specific concerning any one religion, I was going to ask that we stay more general and stick to the subject rather than go off on tangents.
I don't know about this Ron Thump. He's probably one of those Bible thumpers that give Christians a bad name. Maybe he had good intentions, but you can't get everything done with aggressive force, lol.

I can't deny that this is true, at least to an extent, but again I'd have to point out that that's really an individual thing. Religion itself isn't to blame, it's people. In one area, religion can be a load of BS because of what it's been turned into by the individuals within the area, and in another area it stays true to its original form and has lots of meaning for those involved.

Just because people aren't religious doesn't mean they don't have some kind of faith they fall back on. Not very religious does not = no religion. It usually just means they're not all hardcore about it unless something comes around that provokes them into bringing it up. That's just the way people are.
