What/How/When/Who started Anime-Source?

Have any of you read my theory? It's quite valid. Thats usually how most websites start - Eventually they serve a greater purpose in the long run.

Well, it's kind of a long story, so what do you guys want to hear about ? Kaiser summed the beginning part pretty good.

Anime-Source started on a little account on a canadian webhost. It started with the idea of creating a huge anime list with plenty of reviews. To this day, we have 1,348 anime entry which are supported by 4,894 reviews.

So how did we start from having a lousy 100 visitors a day, to having 500 000 ? First, it was a huge team effort. Doing screen shots, writting synposis. We had a great team from the Anime-CAAM days. Every admin would talk about Anime-Source on other boards and we would try to get affiliation with other website.

Then, there was a crazy stunt made by Kaiser... Anime-Source fansubbed an episode of Gundam Seed. The quality was horrible (huge green fonts BANZAI!), but it was so much fun to watch. That was the first big spur for Anime-Source.

It was such a success that we did a few more series, Avenger and Maria-Sama Migeteru. They also worked on a few other projects. Some admin, who left Anime-Source over time, still work with fansub teams, SCR512 being the first example that pops into my mind.

The second spur we had was listing BT releases. By then, the little canadian host had already complained about the abusive hit we were taking on its bandwith. It started has simple news post listing the new releases of the day. The Releases modules was created after a few weeks. To this day, it hasn't got many changes. To this day...

Then a little later down the road, AngelKing made his first project, the Conventions. After creating a new module for it, he began the task of reaching lots and lots of convention for informations and such. That's when he really started beeing a public relation officer.

The last and final big spur was the manga. What started as something simple, just putting one manga online became an addiction to Kaiser. Adding new pages was like drug and we started having more and more of them. At first, we used the already existing Content module, but has bandwith was running out, as managing it was becoming a growing challenge, the Manga module was created. This was the first time we really took points into consideration.

The manga served many purpose. It created so much activity on the website : more forum posts, more reviews. The team then expanded to monitor all this activity we have now. It took lots of time, but after 8 months of up and down, I think we are finally stable. To the point where future comes, and so do new projects...

Wrong i say!! WRONG!!

Anime-source was started by a couple of guys who wanted to read all the latest manga so they purposely started an anime website so they could watch anime only now they couldn't read the latest manga so they purposely added the manga section. And that's how anime-source became so popular

Oh, so that's how it started... I thought it was just a fun idea for Kaiser and Frundock to start the site... well, when did AngelKing come in anyway? And how?

AngelKing came in Dec 08, 2002 - So his join date claims.
How? He probably signed up like the rest of us and got well known whether he slepted with Kaiser or not Wink
