...I guess i'm starting to see the hatred in video games graphics. These days, it's just more graphics, more cost, and less of a good story.
My cousin is more of a person who prefers games that look "cool". Everytime she see's me playing an oldie (Secret of Mana), it's "That looks gay, seriously" out of her. Gah, people these days. Don't know the true value of games. _________________
yeah, game's nowaday's are so........ lame, graphic's are nice and all but I only like game's that have good a story-line and gameplay,no boring repetitive, doing the same thing over and over again *cough* Magna Carta *cough*.
Don't you people read your own posts. Pure nostalgia, that's it, just PURE NOSTALGIA. People say this stuff every generation. Once the next gen consoles start rolling in, people will go say they miss the PS2 age because "THEY FOCUSED ON STORYLINE AND NOT GRAPHICS, NOT LIKE NOWADAYS." Yeah I can imagine forum members making posts like this 2 years from now. It's just plain ridiculous.
I'll leave Alundra to prove my point with his Final Fantasy 4 Advance review _________________ Go Gitaroo-Man, go fight the mighty piano ships with your mighty Guitar AXE!
hey guys, do you realize that most of the games you are naming were complemented on their graphics at the time? Just because they dont look amazing now doesnt mean that it didnt at the time of its release.
i can just imagine when ps3 comes out... " omg, ffx was so awesome because they didn't care about the graphics"
I don't think today's games suck any worse than the old days of NES. Back then game designs were simplier so the emphesis was more on game play, until people started to buy more and more games so many bad games came out as the system matures. However just because there bad games does not mean that there are no good game out there. There are plenty of good games out there which has good gameplay AND good graphics, for all the major systems, it's just that they require more effort to find.
I don't think you can hate on games just because the graphics are better now. IMO Final Fantasy is still as good as it was since FFIV. Although the graphics are a lot better I wouldn't say most game developers focus solely on graphics. Then again, I'm more of an RPG guy and the formula for them is pretty easy to implement and hasn't changed by much.
I think you just have to know what you are looking for nowadays. Prince of Persia:The Sands of Time was an excellent game, the 2nd PoP sucked, 3rd was ok. But Shadow of the Colussus was excellent, Katamari of course. I just think, like all things, once something becomes mainstream, they just lose sight of what the original fan base loved so much. Which is why nowadays, I no longer look at the publisher of games, I follow development teams. Like I hate Squarenix, Square has been dropping the ball, the last fairly good game they've had was FF X. I love Tri-Ace, a group of developers who work under, Squeenix. I will buy their games. NIS is another great group of developers, most known for Disgaea. INIS is known for Gitaroo Man, and now Ouedan. These are the group that drive for the innovation we love in video games, not just prettier graphics.
This is exactly why the Nintendo Revolution is so important to the gaming industry. We need it's innovation.
So if you want games to stop sucking, stop buying games that suck. Thats pretty much it. If Final Fantasy XII sucks, don't buy it. I'm not going to.
not all games will satisfy us , you just got be more careful on choosing games . i have to admit 2005 didnt really make alot of good games but hopefully PS3 games will atone for the lack of good games in 2006.
MGS4 , Devil may cry 4 , Warhawk"remake" , FF7 "remake" what ive heard , gran turismo , helghast and many more . Those games will rock!
The last few rpgs ive played focused way too much on looks as well and not enough on story. I mean ya its cool and everything but after one round there is no lasting appel.

I can't say all the old games are purely run on nostalgia because I can't possibly grind in Everquest anymore like when I was a kid. Well if you believe that I guess you could, however if you think about it the mindset of a child and a the mindset of a teenager to adult is quite different. For one if you were a kid you could not possibly enjoy complex puzzle games that require good thinking skills and scientific terms. Its really the situational factor that rolls in. However there is some great games that are still great even in the graphical age. Here's a good example.
Phoenix Wright:Ace Attorney
Where's the graphics? There isn't any.
Super Mario Brothers
Nostalgia? I think not, this game is fun and good.
The list goes on, but I do not wish to strain myself in this. Using baseless opinionated conjectures will end up like this though.
I'd like to use this post to point out. If you have a problem with having good graphics on your game then drill a hole into your jugular because 'the world ill needs a saviour such as you'. There are many good graphical games out that still have a great storyline. There are also still games that are awesome but don't have a storyline at all. I hate you bastards who bitch about having fun.

What a bitch, just to spite her and to give myself a mental orgasm I will buy WORLD OF MANA just to spite that bitch.
This really doesn't deserve a new post but Secret of Mana is just that awesome and I don't really need the points anyways.
