I couldn't possibly say what mine is and I still haven't seen them all either.

I love how Miyazaki whisks me back to childhood everytime I watch his stuff. If I ever have kids I'll read them Cat in the Hat at bedtime and let them stay up late to watch My Neighbour Totoro, in Japanese with subtitles of course. None of this softcore dubbing bullshit. They'll be true anime otakus Wink

I really like all his works.. they're all unique in their own sense and its VERY tough to choose.

I'd have to say Castle in the Sky is what really got me interested in the movies and I enjoyed most of his other movies as well. Spirited Away comes a close second, my mom actually stopped what she was doing around the house to watch this movie when I watched it.. haha.

True, it is very hard to single out only one best Miyazaki's film. I like them all, but I think the movie that impressed me most is Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro.

first off, Miyazaki pwns and all his movies are great. for my favorite, i'd probably choose Mononoke Hime because i love animal gods and natural lore and all that. next would have to be Nausicaa, i'm probably biased by this choice because i read the manga first and fell in love with it.

Regarding Ghibli stuff, I've only watched Princess Mononoke and Laputa. On my way to watch Grave of the Fireflies (just a few more minutes...). So far though, I would have to go for Laputa. It was more fun to watch than Mononoke. But then again, I haven't watched Mononoke in about two years. I might have to take another look at it. But as of now, Laputa: Castle in the Sky. Mr. Green

Will for me the best Ghibli movie hands down is Laputa: Castle in the Sky. It was a great movie and also the first anime i saw(i was like 6 and i watch the chinese dubb..ya chinese dubb Razz )I first watching it again like 3 weeks ago and i can't belive it was made in 1986 the animation was better than most anime that was made up to like the mid 1990s.

I have to agree with zebrachen, it wasn't my first movie from Miyazaki but my second I think, lol...still - it sent out inspiring, nostalgic, ominous feelings...maybe every feeling possible. But it was all good feelings it sent out, the conclusion really left you satisfied and just plain happy....Laputa:Castle in the Sky would be my choice.

I have not watched the whole thing of Princess Mononoke yet so then my opinion may change though

I'm pretty sure I own all the R1 releases. I would have to say that Princess Mononoke makes it way back into the DVD player more then others.

Hmmm.. I've only seen Princess Mononoke and Spirted Away, so I cant say I have an exact favorite just yet. ^^ Out of the two i've seen, I like Princess Mononoke the best. ^^ I cant wait until Disney re-releases them on DVD later this year.. I'm gonna buy them all! XD

I bought Kiki's Delivery Service the other day. Cool title but another reminder why I'm always hesitant about buying animé DVDs. It's released under The Studio Ghibli Collection and promises English & English for the hearing impaired subtitles. What I got instead was a single subtitle layer; thankfully a translation of the japanese but including description of sound effects for the hard of hearing. In other words, English for the hearing impaired subs that were of no use when used in conjunction with the dub.

Is it really so hard for distros to get this stuff right? It doesn't seem to be a problem for the vast majority of DVDs I usually buy, even the foreign language ones, but most animé DVDs I've bought have had some irritating issue with the subtitles.

Anyway, I've gone off-topic again, sorry about that, but come on guys, keep it professional!

They're all soooo good, they make u react in so many different emotions, I'm more action oriented, so I'll say Princess Mononoke ^_^
