My favorite would have to be Whisper of the Heart, the story is some brillantily simple and profound.

Toss up between Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle. Both are just so whimsical but meaningful at the same time.

I love the way loads of things in Spirited Away are like a child's slightly fantasised view of the real world. Like Ubaba (or gandma): when you're really little and an old lady (grandma, perhaps) puts her face right up to you, saying something like "let's get a look at you". You get to see this massive face close up with all the wrinkles and blemishes really clearly defined. And the boiler man? When a grown up tickled you as a kid, didn't it seem like they had huge extendable arms, and too many of them at that?

Miyazaki's films are full of wonderful little details like that, but none more so than Spirited Away.

Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle
are the best as so far what i saw ...
both are interesting and simpl event no mystries nor
complicated plots where everythings goes up and down.

I haven seen all of them, but I'll say Mononoke Hime is the best so far...

I think some of you may have misunderstood... Grave of the fireflies is NOT directed by Hayao Miyazaki...

I have to go with Mononoke, followed by Laputa Castle in the Sky. Though I have to admit, when I heard the english dub of Mononoke, I fell out of my chair in surprise at how cheesy everyone sounded, and that completely put me off. Ah, good times. Smile

I have seen all of Miyazaki's masterpieces, as well as most of Studio Gibli's catalog of films and I have to say I love all of them, but the ones that stuck out the most were, Spirited Away (Since it sucked me back into anime Razz ), Princess Mononoke (Just an awesome film Cool ), Grave of the Fireflies (Saddest anime I've ever watched Crying or Very sad , even though it's not a Miyazaki, it's still a gibli production). Studio Gibli just rocks.

I have seen just a few. So in order of what I liked most to least from what I have seen:

1) Whisper of the Heart
2) Laputa: Castle in the Sky
3) Spirited Away
4) The Cat Returns
5) Kiki's Delivery Service
6) My Neighbor Totoro
7) Princess Mononoke
8) Porco Rosso
9) Grave of the Fireflies
10) Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
11) Panda Go Panda (both movies I & II)

..Hmm, did I forget anything? Maybe I did..ah well. I did not really like GoF much because I did not like the main character. He is an egotistical, snobbish prick. Still, I would deem it as an excellent anime. The only Ghibli film which I could not get into is My Neightbor: The Yamadas. I might give it a try when I feel like it again ... but in my first watch I couldn't get into it because of its weird style.

Pom Poko is a Ghibli film which I have not yet seen.

My vote is for Princess Mononoke followed by Future Boy Conan (a series not a movie) followed by Howl's Moving Castle.

I have seen just about all of his pictures, and I would have to say my personal favorite is Porco Rosso. I have never really seen another movie like it, and I know Miyazaki made this film strictly for himself and his love of flying.

I've seen all of Miyazaki's, and my favorite from him is probably Princess Monoke. It's hard to put the rest into order, but his later works like Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away are up there as is My Neighbor Totoro. If you consider Grave of the Fireflies, it's right up there at the top, too. I realize I didn't add much to this discussion, but that's my two cents.
