In term of boss figtht, maybe you're right...but in term of other challenge, there're certain things that are very difficult to accomplish...for example getting Excalibur 2 in FF9, get Caladbolg in FFX....that challenge has nothing to do with characters level... _________________ It Shall Be Engraved Upon Your Very Soul
Hmm... Most of the FF should be quite easy to complete, however getting a 100% completion for FFX-2 is not so easy. I remember I missed out some percentage from missing a small part in the beginning of my story causing that outcome. Most importantly, it is impossible to complete 100% without a guide!
Well the hardest final fantasy for me to beat would have to be final fantasy 8. That one was a lot harder then final fantasy X and those are the only one's i have played. Then again I screwed up the rules on the card game for final fantasy 8 so that makes it really hard. It's set on random

Yeah that right. I using guide book but need to play couple of times before I can get 100% complete story but the reward is not such a worth at all and it wasting my time.
The hardest gameplay maybe is Final Fantasy VII because it has many sidequests and the battle is hard too but not after gettin 4xCut and other mastered materia.The ultimate weapons is just scared me in the beginning to fight but after knowing some combination of materia sure can beat it easy but the most unbelieveable thing is we can beat them *weapons* only using an items. LoL (=~.~=)
I still can't beat Penance *final Dark Aeons* without using Zanmato. The sidequest quite tough also but it fun after all and I love to play Blitzball in FFX rather than FFX-2.
Final Fantasy Tactic ps1 is the best tactician gameplay compare to other tactic games even Final Fantasy Tactic Advance gameboy. The gameplay not so hard but just need a long time to build all of characters ussually I finished this game in 100+hours to get it all in high stats.Forget how many times I'd beated this game because the character so cute, smooth gameplay and nice background and battle musics.

Yes it was annoying but fun also because we don't need to changed many places for levelling and Final Fantasy VIII is the easier compared to other series of Final Fantasy. The last boss sure damn easier that any other last boss on other FF series because my favourite Selphie was there and she has skill called "THE END" Tee Hee.. even Odin and Yojimbo deadly skill can't compared to her because this skill "THE END" was 100% kill the enemy even final boss and this skill really make me laugh out loud for couple of minutes before I can stopped , it was because the sceneries enemies puttin into some dreamland which green flowering fields and one tree then the word of THE END coming out and it really ended the enemy life just like that. I cannot beat FF8, stuck in the last bost.. (Edea and griever) cannot beat em!! but my friend told me a secret.. so maybe now i can..
I beat FF9 fair and square!! Lolz.. how lucky I am when i was fighting the last boss...I had 3 dead chars, no phoenix down and such left... very2 tiny amount of potions left.. and my only alive char, stainer, had a red health..
fortunately, with his one tiny little punch, I beat the last boss!!

Yeah, FFX-2 is hard to get 100% without any walkthrough...I get it after 2 playthrough...and like what you said, not worth it...(just an extra ending...?)
I've once defeated penance without using zanmato...my strategy is using Wakka, Tidus and Yuna/Rikku...
Wakka and Tidus prepare for Attack Reel and Blitz Ace, Rikku use Hyper Mighty Guard/Yuna summon....
My weapon equipped with Break Damage Limit, Triple Overdrive, 1 MP cost, Magic Booster while armor with break hp limit, ribbon, auto-haste, auto-potion...My stat are 255 strengh, magic, def, agility, accuracy; 150+ luck, >35,000 hp...
Then I keep quick hitting penance and double-casting ultima, overdrive...Until I defeated him without really noticed it... _________________ It Shall Be Engraved Upon Your Very Soul

As for Final fantasy VII yeaps it kinda hard in battle but after knowing what items that I can use to defeat all Weapons without working hard it really fun becasue I can play with them Tee Hee..
Final fantasy VIII i strongly suggest to you to try check out Selphie Limit breaks because she have the most ultimate and powerful skill to defeat any single of enemy even final boss, it's called "THE END".
Final Fantasy IX it not so hard but hate their limit breaks it very limited and not so best after all but the characters design is so cute and this is we called Final Fantasy not like other series they are focus on matured looking.
Final Fantasy X, if you were talking about Yu-Yevon of couse it is easy to defeat . Try playing the international version and faces with Final Dark Aeons-Penance it really tough for me to beat him down without Zanmato.

Final Fantasy X-2 100% completed stories- unlock the secret ending which Yuna and Tidus went to Zanarkard and date there*it just simple explanation because I still can't forget I'm such wasting time on this game*
Wooh you're lucky or maybe you'd played well because my average main team(Tidus,Wakka and Rikku) hp is 60k (~.~0) and I ussually use Wakka, Tidus, Auron, Kimahri and Lulu to kill monsters but maybe I'm not fighting well because I thought high stats can beat anything but seem need to use some sort of tactics to beat Penance anyway I'll play again after I finished Resident Evil 4*1st time playing RE series* and I wanted to play many times because RE4 not scare at all if compare to before.
p/s: Rikku and Yuna only kill monsters couple of times because I just wanted to let both of them in such pure* means not killing to much* and when fight with I forgot name monster hold a knife and use "Karma Techniques" at arena. I just can bully that monster.

wow...you've got 60k hp...I'm tired of clearing the spheregrid just to put the hp sphere....
that monster 'karma' technique is Tonberry right...? isn't that monster is easy to defeat...(he has less than 99,999 hp right...)
For me, Rikku is one of the best characters in FFX because her mix skill, especially Hyper Mighty Guard, which gives Haste, Protect, Shell, Regen, and Auto-life...this overdrive was my saviour during Penance fight... _________________ It Shall Be Engraved Upon Your Very Soul

The hardest FF's for me was 4 and 6, because up to this day I still haven't beaten those two.

in final fantasy 7 the only thing that I didn't gain is the added cut materia...other is well... quite easy... I really enjoyed playing FF7... I played it for about 5-6 times completed...the game is really interesting and quite different each time you play it... but for me it still easy...
well the hardest for me is final fantasy x...still stuck with penance (zanmato is really easy) but I wanna beat him with my own hand...it shmae thought that there is no added scene or prize if we beat him

yes, i agree all FF series are easy if you are at your max stats, but if you are complaning that is too easy. try playing without the special system options.
you don't have to use espers,materia,junction, or sphers in order to beat the game. Square just put it in there as an option to make it a little easy and help you get through the game without complaing that is too Hard.
Tell me which is the hardest.
Beating
FF6 without the use of espers
FF7 without the use of materia
FF8 without the use of junction
FF9 beating it under 12 hrs
FFX without the use of sphers
The hardest for me was
FF9 beat it in 12 hrs, will never ever try this chellenge again. EVER.
FF8 beat it without the junction system, i worn you don't go and level up evry charcter or else you are going to be dead period. The reason i say this is that in laguna's dream you can't beat the ruby dragon if all your charcter are at lv 100 and you can't beat lagunas last dream in esthar if your all your charcter are at lv 100. remember monster level up with you.
I admit i can't beat tonnbarry king and Omega weapon in a battle, without using The End. Quiet cheap, but can anyone in a no juction game do it without using The End?
Try one of the above and tell me which one is the hardest. I DARE YA
