do any of u out there think that the world will end in our lifetime? like within the next century? considering whats been happening in the last few years and this year in particular, what with all the disasters and whatnot, i think its a possiblity.
do u think that humanity and all of life in general is on the brink of destruction?
with the increase in global temperature and the rise of natural disasters around the world, are we screwed?
theres been a few documentaries and such on tv in the last few months, documenting the melting of the ice caps, and the rise in temp. but are we reli safe? the evidence is hard to go against but id still like to know what the majority of u out there think.

lol i prefer not to think about it
the world is probably screwed beyond repair
so since nothing can be done
(because the more that we do, we are just contributing to what harm we have been creating)
might as well live in some sort of ignorant bliss
man
the world better not get screwed over before i have my kids.. i still wanna make apple pies without putting addition ingredients in the pies to detoxify the pollution and chemicals

i dont think climate change, melting ice caps and the whole hulla-balloo is gonna make any significant impact until about 50 years time. So no. i guess it also depends on how long you think you'll live. I can predict (your question) optimistically because ive pessimistically predicted my death to when i get round 60 years old. and thats in 40 years.
Additionally, if everybody stops thinking about global warming, it'll go away.
So be happy! and dont think too much Razz

anyway what do you mean by the world ending? Do you mean the total extinction of the human race? i doubt thats gonna happen any time soon.

but haven't changes (in everything) gain pace in the past while... (ex extinction etc) in comparison how everything used to be before industralization + exploitation?
like
everything works in a faster pace nowadays
ex human population exponentially grew.. in the past while... over hundreds + thounsands of years?

wouldn't deterioration be in a higher rate too?

yeah you do have a good point there. my fifty year estimate was an uneducated (very) guess. i know next to absolutely zilch when it comes to forecasting the effects of climate change. and ive read all kindas of people argue all kinds of weird things like the human contribution to climate change is negligible (cant remember whether it was .2 or 2%). so i dont know what to believe.
but another interesting thing to counter what you said is that modern living can actually help people save energy in some cases. Manhattan is something like the third most energy efficient city area. Because it is mostly high density people live in apartments, walk, ride bicycles, take public transport more. and that saves energy. just some random facts. im procrastinating you see.

but without industralization, we probably wouldn't be using energy to this kinda extent anyways
so efficiency and saving resources are only in relative terms
in other words
we'r kinda screwed
just hopefully not too soon that i'll see my skin melting when it's in contact with air

plz excuse my pessimism
feeling kinda tired after stress from school
i'll also blame it on this hour at night (3am... grr)
nite everybody
i have morning class tomorrow... omg

Pfffft! climat change is a problem, but if we'r gonna die then it will because of human cruelty. Their is not a century that hasn't suffered war, and considering the best breakthroughs in technology is in the military, we'r all gonna suffer more wars.

If not, then the bird flu will ge us.

yeah i kinda agree with bowser there, climate change is a problem but humans can survive that with our amazing ability to adapt. we have more to fear from other humans in some kinda bio/chem warfare plague or something. but i dont think it will happen in our lifetime, maybe our childrens if you plan to have any.

Read the news, you'll find that bird flu is spreading to Western countries and that it has the ability to kill humans.
