It's existed as a teaser announcement for nearly a week, but now the webpage that has taunted the masses of anxious Harutards and curious alike has been unveiled. The unbounded anticipation finally pays off.
At 3am on Friday, December 22, 2006 (GMT -5) an announcement has been made to the world that the biggest sensation to hit anime this side of the milennium, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya will be released on DVD in North America. Kadokawa Pictures USA and Bandai Entertainment are the companies you can all send your thank-you cards to. More details can be found here: Official Website
For those of you missed it, right before the site was launched, we were treated to more teasers in the form of Yuki sending a communicae to her bosses at her Data Integration Entity agency...

| | Agreed, they need to find some excellent VA. I don't think I could stand a poor quality dub of Haruhi. Even still, will be tough to find VA that can duplicate or better the Japanese. |

| i kinda hope it doesn't go on ytv though..
i think that animes that go on ytv becomes somewhat downgraded because they do too much reruns
ex. Inuyasha
1st season was great. Gets worse eventually as story was too repetitive. then with the help
of ytv constantly doing reruns, you eventually get tired of waiting for the episode you left off
with. |

| | Yes, but I heard a rumor that because Hugh Hefner and Playboy own the Bunny Girl image in the US, then they either have to pay him royalties, remove all instances of bunny girls, or simply edit them into different costumes. Of course I have nothing to substantiate this claim, but it was interesting. |

i am however, excited that the release will be done by Bandai!!!
awesome company becuase they tend to hire new voice actors and actresses so the theres a small chance of hearing the same annoying voice from another series!! ^^
largoeth, most animes nowadays tend to leave whatever songs are in the episode in japanese. usually sounds better that way. |

I hope the english cast can keep haruhi's craziness plus kyons sarcasm or that should suck. btw about playboy owning rights, i think it will be funny when bandai pays playboy by giving them rights to publish copies that includes Mikuru :). I will by one though i hope i'm legal to do so :X |

| Well, the subbed version of the video is out, in fansub quality. Sale and ebay notice too!
And it seems there's a vote for 1 of 4 actresses for the roles of Mikiru and Yuki, that are hidden there. Seems the leaders in both sound liek their japanese counterparts. Yuki especially. |

| personally i think that Anime being unlicensed is good because of 2 reasons:
1st - You can find it easier for free on internet. You would think that here, in Poland it wouldnt be of much problem, but well... This is country where only animes being shown in TV are Pokemon, Beyblade, Yugi-Oh etc. because of this community thinks that animes are (quote) 'Chinese cartoons for little kids' -_- And it would be really hard to find a polish site hosting some fansubbed animes, so my only source are american servers, and after the series is licensed... you get the idea...
2nd - I dont like animes with dubbing. Seriously, in my life with only 3-4 well dubbed movies, and overally have bad feelings towards that...
There you have my PoV about the licensing. Probably its not like anyone cares XD |

| I think it'll sound good if Yuki, has either Kan'na or Rei Ayanami's U.S VA, and everyone else is newly casted. If they translate the songs, Haruhi sings I'm sure they will sound horrible in english.
