In-Depth Postulation of Esoteric Logic in L*S Eps. 1+22, As Applied to Kona-chan
|
|
There are many ways to describe Konata Izumi, one of the lead characters of this spring's monster hit anime, Lucky*Star. There is also much to be said about the series itself, despite the show having so little of an actual plot. It's daily life at it's rawest, yet it manages to capture the attention and adoration of so many. How does that happen? Anime-Source.com Staff Writer Alexiel dissects the very essence of Kona-chan and all that she encompasses in true otaku fashion. By looking through example of two certain conversations, maybe some sense can finally be made of this nonsensical anime. Please read on to find out what we mean.
Glad you're interested. READ ON!

| | #3: There are 24 episodes in the series. As with all anime, the idea of any series being "really that good" is pretty subjective. I would personally give it an 8/10 on the rawest level of my own experience and expectations of anime. |

| | #1 & #2: By the way...the point of the article was to explain that there is more to appreciate about Konata than her just being a visual culture otaku every day. We should appreciate the fact that she has the ability to put aside her obsessions at certain points in time and not simply brand her as "otaku" because her character is not strictly that. And now you two go and call her an "otaku idol..." |

| Yeah, almost everything I read about otakus... is they they can't get jobs... xDD. That's clearly false.
And all those talks about air conditioning and sticky pictures! >_> |

| Hee, I loved Konata because she wasn't just an otaku. She enjoys hanging out with her friends, knows what aspects of otaku culture most people should be shielded from, asks some rather serious questions (for instance, when she asked her father if boys interested in her and her younger cousin would be lolicons due to their appearance) that most people would be afraid to ask... and she's actually good at sports. Most otaku rarely leave the comfort of their own room, while she's more than happy to go out in public with or without friends.
I think the biggest reason I like her as a character so much is that she's actually rather responsible (aside from schoolwork), as she takes it upon herself to get a job to pay for her hobby, does most of the chores at her home, and still finds the time to occasionally study (or copy off of Kagami's work) AND socialize with people.
She even has a rather good relationship with her homeroom teacher (Kuroi-sensei is AWESOME! I've had a teacher like her before and I loved that class SO much), which, when you think about it, is something many students don't have - a personal connection outside of the classroom with their teachers, be it from a hobby or other reason. And she's naturally intelligent - without studying, she still manages to get decent grades on tests (imagine if she found herself motivated to study for ALL of her classes, like Kagami keeps telling her to do!) and figures out things faster than some of her friends. She's witty, just with obscure hobbies compared to her friends. She even admits her failings rather freely, showing a remarkable amount of self-acceptance and self-love.
All in all, I like the article - it points out how well-rounded a character Izumi Konata is. |

| #5: well.. that's why she is an idol..
i mean.. how many otakus are the way konata is?
we should be like her and not stick only around anime and manga all day.. (thought it would be nice to spend more time on them than to do anything like H.W and school projects) thought i don't do them untill thae last min anywhy :P
plus.. in the other hand.. there is tons of things i learnd from her about otakus.. ep 20 "how to chouse ur cards?" Great thinking ^_^
